Welcome to the new world of digital cameras using older SLR bodies. Well, not that new, but with my new DSLR from Canon I feel like I’ve really joined a new technological revolution. I took classes back here when I learned how to develop black and white 35 mm film and soon I will start in the color process, when My age in the military is over.
I had the best Canon 35 mm camera and I learned all the ins and outs of film processing and chemicals and such, but I didn’t really have the money to do everything I wanted to in photography. Now with digital it’s so much easier and with a DSLR like the Canon Eos Digital Rebel XT you can do all the experiments and take great pictures.
Canon EOS Rebel XT uses a very large and good image chip for its 8 mega pixel resolution. The basis of a good digital camera is a CMOS sensor and a Canon Digic II image processor that is quite high there as well. Canon has been making cameras for years and continues its high standards today in high tech digital solutions for photographers. They make their mark down to the elements themselves like the Digic II processor that uses little power to process your images in stunning clarity.
I’m not much for technical talk so I’ll start with the outline of the canon and then straight to the heart of the matter, or the camera.

The smallest camera would come with a camera body, lens, battery and charger, USB cable, and of course a bunch of manuals and software. Some accessories you should consider buying right away are a compact flash, a camera bag, and a filter for whatever lens you own. and lens cleaning kit. It is a protective lens that is anisocycled into the lens and not only provides UV protection as a filter, but also protects the main lens glass from damage and scratches.
You need a compact flash card for use with the camera, but it has an internal memory of 32 MB, but this is not enough. EOS Utility is a program that you use to take remote photos using your computer and an included USB cable.
You should update all the software that comes with your camera so you use the latest updates and programs. I found that I could not use the remote features until I updated the accounts. There were about seven updates so I spent an hour or so downloading and putting in the update. You can also update the cameras firmware, but this is very easy.
I’ve been using the Canon EOS Rebel XT for about a month now and I’ve found the camera to be great. It has many uses for the common photographer who wants to take their photography to a higher level of value. The Rebel XT is great for nature photos, portraits, portraits and macro shots like close ups of bugs and such.
