Proper care and attention is essential to the life of a car battery, and although car batteries are virtually maintained these days, you can extend the life of your battery by performing simple maintenance and care routines. After miles of driving, the brackets that hold it in place can loosen, and the tray can deteriorate from corrosion. All batteries weaken over time, especially in cold weather, but there are simple steps you can take to take care of them properly. and maintain your car battery to extend its use for several months.
Tray Care
It is important to take care of the tray every six months by cleaning it and checking for signs of corrosion. Turn the engine off, pop off the terminal caps if necessary, and disconnect the black negative terminal cables. Next, disconnect the positive terminal cable, and remove the battery bracket hardware. Take the ball from the tray.
Inspect the tray and brush away any corrosion with a small brush. Wipe off excess dirt and debris, and if the tray is metal, protect it with an acid-resistant coat of paint. Allow the paint to dry completely before replacing the battery.
If you find the transmission badly damaged or weak, buy a new transmission from auto parts store. If the old plate is not bolted, it will have to be cut off with a cold chisel, and holes will have to be drilled with new hardware. With the old tray removed, mark the location of the new tray where the old tray was attached. Drill new holes and attach the new tray securely to strong brackets.
Bracket Care
It is also important to take care of the hooks by checking them for corrosion and loosening them on a regular basis. Brackets that become loose or corroded will cause excessive vibration, and unnecessary vibration can shorten battery life.
While cleaning and inspecting the tray, check the brackets for signs of corrosion, and tighten the hardware if loose. If the brackets are corroded, take care by cleaning them with a small wire brush and applying an aerosol penetrating solvent. If cleaning the hooks reveals excessive damage, replace them as soon as possible.
New car batteries are expensive, it is important to use as much as possible from the battery. Short bursts and temperature extremes can weaken the battery, but the battery does not lose a little power. >. You can provide it to give you several months of use.
If the charge indicator window on the car indicates a weak battery, it will be placed in a small charger. A small battery is quite inexpensive and will provide your device with a large charge overnight.
Start by turning the engine off, and carefully connect the red disc shield to the positive terminals. Connect the black or green disk to the negative terminal. Use extreme caution while making the connection. Do not allow the clips to come into contact with each other or any other metal. A spark can cause an explosion if the battery is leaking hydrogen gas. The disk in post is properly connected and plugged in.
It is allowed to charge the battery overnight or for several hours. When the meter indicates less than one charge, turn off the charger, unplug the outlet and disconnect it. Your newly charged car battery will start without hesitation.
If your battle is still weak or sluggish, when charging adequately, start jumping to the car. If the light of the ammeter or the indicator shows a normal range of operation, it is time to start a new battery.
