I was reading an article on MSN.com a while back about ways to make hundreds of bucks. For there is usually not much success in these endeavors, because they are more trouble than they are worth. Since it was a slow day though, I decided to take a peak at the list and stumbled across a site called Cash4books.net. As the name suggests, Cash4books is a site that presents you for books – duh!
Always cautious in new ventures, I did my due diligence first. After a thorough search (I always read reviews, look for bank articles, and make sure these sites don’t ask for books to sell. The site immediately tells you if they bought a book or books and how much they bought for it.
I was surprised to see an old woman in the shopping store the other day using a scanner (I think you can return them from Cash4books instead $5 a month or something) like in the bookstore checkout line, attaching a PDA, scanning book ISBNs to see if Cash4books would buy them. There are gold panning miners out there! It’s not a bad game considering you can shop realmely or garage sale books a quarter pop, look around and sell Cash4books.net for perhaps five or ten rams!
T HE SLOPES
- Cash4books doesn’t seem to buy many books of old or new type preferring newer editions and specific (non-fictional) works.
- If the book is damaged (i.e. water stained, torn, a certain percentage of the pages have been lifted, etc.) you will not receive as much money as you originally quoted. It’s a good idea to review the site’s quality requirements with the quality of your books before it’s time to ship them.
Events
- Between my mother-in-law, my wife, and I, we cleared a total of $440, mostly in the usual volumes. Not bad for an hour or two of sorting and grabbing some old books and a couple of trips to the FedEx store !
