Here’s a Children’s Church lesson with a timeline. You can change the times according to your own schedule. I’ve also included a list of things you’ll need.
10:15AM -10:30AM Take In time
You’ll need: Sign in sheets , Games and color page
10:30AM-10:35AM Introductions, Start of service
You’ll need to introduce yourself and let the kids introduce themselves
10:35AM-10:45AM Praise and Worship
You’ll need to music and CD player.
10:45AM-10:50AM Offering
Show kids pictures from Costa Rica or other countries your church may be involved in and how their giving helps other kids to have food, have a place to sleep and hear about Jesus.
10:50AM-10:55AM Object Lesson or Lesson (Read the scripture Matthew 6:19-21)
You’ll need: 2 treasure boxes. Have index cards with good works written on them like, fed the poor, helped mom clean etc. Put a few other kind of cards in to like “forgot to feed dog” etc.
11:05AM-11:15AM Main Lesson Read the scripture again Matthew 6:19-21
Let me show you what this means…. In this box we will put in our paycheck, our savings, our birthday money, our tooth fairy money our Christmas money and every money we get. I hope nobody steals it!!! Here is another treasure chest, this one is for your heavenly account. Money doesn’t go in here, instead all the good things we do go in here! Let’s see who’s got something to put in here!!! (HAVE KIDS COME UP AND READ WHAT’S ON THEIR CARDS… IF IT IS GOOD IT GOES IN THE BOX! IF IT IS NOT GIVE THEM ANOTHER CARD! Keep going until everyone has put a card in.

Treasure Hunt
You’ll need: A prize and 3 clues. Hide the treasure somewhere. Your treasure should be simple like a box of candy. Then write 3 clues, let the first one lead you to the next and so on. The last one leads to the treasure. On the earth you can put money in the bank, hide it in your room. You can have millions of dollars and live in the most beautiful homes. You can drive the nicest cars and have the biggest diamonds and jewels. But one day, those things will be gone. The treasure we put in heaven’s account will last forever. What we do on the earth will last forever. Some of the things that last forever, like feeding the hungry, giving water to the thirsty, doing good for others. The Bible says that there are crowns that will be given out in heaven. God will be giving us all houses and we will want for nothing. The streets are made of gold and the sea is like crystal.. Those are the things that are important. Treasure in heaven! A reward is coming to you for all the good things you do!

You’ll need Monopoly money
Sit down with a child and ask him questions about his week. Like did you clean your room this week? Did you do your homework? Did you help your mom? Did you do something nice for someone else? Every time they say, give them one of the dollar bills and let them hold. After a while you will say to them, even those isn’t real money, God is keeping records of all the good things you are doing and one day you will get your reward!
