China Buffet in Ft. Wayne: a Mother’s Day Review

China Buffet in Fort Wayne, Indiana used to be a wonderful place to get a large amount of Chinese food. Patrons would fill their pants with beef and broccoli, those crabs, Kung Pow, and Chinese noodles, along with fried rice. Then the same hungry soul would bring back the second and the third in its dwelling. The China Buffet experience was second to none. People just loved it.

Now years later, and after several changes in management is not a great experience of China Plaga. This new management has added choices like tacos, pizza and Cajun chicken, but come on, we want Chinese!

When my daughter said she wanted to take me to China Plaga on Mother’s Day, I went along with the plan. After all, several unfortunate conflicts lead to a new agency, something new and wonderful. I went, towards the affirmative.

When we arrive, many new faces appear, but they don’t mean much in the restaurant industry. It could also be a change of management, I thought. Or better yet, the first owners are back after a long sabbatical to taste the new and finest Chinese recipes for alluring gems.

But that was not the case.

While I was wandering for food, he was there; tacos, pizza, Cajun chicken. Some great fish, and cookies that could pass for vanilla wafers, or a shared wafer. I am not saying that there were no Chinese offerings. The tried and true broccoli and beef, Chinese noodles, and fried rice sat in all their glory. I was too afraid to taste different things. The thing was the food was very good and the experience was worse.
We were lucky with our two grandchildren, who are six and three. This turned into a mixed blessing, because after a little bit of food, they both began to act. Another restaurant, where I would have a bad meal, this would have moved me. Children are children and often taking them to restaurants can fall into the food, it looks dirty, and the children’s room visits

This time a big smile crossed my face when I realized that our stay at the Chinese Buffet was not going to be a long and leisurely experience. No, be filled with haste and let’s get out of here, mother, I can’t believe these, some kind of deal.

Too bad, so sad, maybe then time management will be new and food will be like in the beginning and life will be filled with clean water and gas that costs 25 cents a gallon.
