The biggest buzz in the wrestling world today is Chris Jericho’s return to WWE. Now is as good a time as ever to look back at Chris Jericho’s first career in WWE and count down the ten best matches in WWE.
10. Chris Jericho vs. Autin (Revenge 2001)
I’m kind of confused on this one because it’s actually two separate couples but they come together. In 2001, at Revenge, WWE held a four-man mini-tournament to unify the WWE title and the WCW title and become the first ever WWE Champion without being crowned. It was a surprise when Chris Jericho upset The Rock in the first round, and a bigger surprise when he also upset Stone Cold Steve Austin in the next match. to win the WWE Championship.
9. Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit vs. Hardy Boyz vs. Hardy Boyz vs.
In 2001 Jericho and Benoit teamed up with the best tag team named Chris in wrestling. Jericho and Benoit are such awesome wrestlers that if you throw them in a classic TLC match in WWE then you’re sure to get another classic.
8. Chris Jericho, The Rock, Kane, The Undertaker, Big Show vs. Shane McMahon, Kurt Angle, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Rob Van Dam, Booker T (Survivor Series 2001)
The Invasion Angle was one of WWE’s biggest flops, but the final match in the deciding feud was perhaps the best Survivor Series WWE has ever had. Chris Jericho has also made his full turn as a heel in the turn of Rock and almost WWE.
7. Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle (WrestleMania 2000)
In 2000 Kurt Angle was on the rise and won the WWE Intercontinental title and the WWE European title. At WrestleMania, Angle had to defend the titles against Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit in a triangle elimination match. The wrestler who got the first pinfall won the WWE Intercontinental Title and the wrestler who got the second pinfall won the WWE European Title. Chris Jericho pinned Benoit to win the WWE Intercontinental title and later Benoit pinned him to become the WWE European Champion.
6. Chris Jericho vs. Edge vs. Chris Benoit vs. Christian vs.
At WrestleMania 21 there was a six-man ladder match and the winner would get a shot at the WWE World Title any time they wanted for the next year. Aside from TLC tag team matches, it was very rare for a ladder match to have more than two people good on it so it was quite a feat to have a good ladder match with that many wrestlers.
5. Chris Jericho vs. Edge – Cage Match (Smackdown July 25th, 2002)
When the brand split first occurred in WWE, there were two matches that were the best matches on the brand. While Rob Van Dam and Eddie Guerrero were tearing up Chris Jericho and Edge on Smackdown. The cage match between Chris Jericho and Edge was actually the first ever cage match on Smackdown and ended their rivalry.
4. Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit – Two Out of Three Falls (Summerslam 2000)
The Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit match was almost always a classic match at any time WWE had nothing for them as they knew they could just throw the two together and that was an easy part of their Pay Per View. At Summerslam 2000, they need to have a bigger team to fill the usual role that Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit left wrestling three times. The fans certainly don’t mind.
3. Chris Jericho vs. Triple H (Monday Raw April 17, 2000)
When Chris Jericho made his first run in the WWE, he became the face of it like crazy. Chris Jericho was comparing pops to The Rock and Cold Stone. Since then Chris Jericho pinned the World Champion and the most hated man in the company, Triple H, appeared in the fans. unlike anything I have ever heard. Unfortunately, Triple H had the plan backfired and Chris Jericho didn’t win his first World Title until the following year.
2. Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit – Ladder Match (Royal Rumble 2001)
Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit wrestled a singles match, a tag team match, a triangle match, a 2 out of 3 falls match and a submission match but none of their matches were better than when the two of them climbed a ladder and fought each other several feet. on the ground The Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit Ladder Match is also right up there with the TLC Matches and Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels Ladder matches
1. Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin Triple H
There have been a lot of great tag teams over the years and the wrestlers thrown together are usually not as good but the tag team matches that pit Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit against Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H would be the best tag team match I have ever seen. Triple H and Steve Austin were the ultimate heels at the time and Jericho and Benoit were the fan favorites, but I think the fans knew their chances of winning were slim. The match itself was incredible and the Canadian Chrises scored the coup of the century.
