People usually don’t stop to think about what allows a mirror to reflect an image. Solid sheet mirrors are not magical materials that naturally reflect images. Most people look at the mirror every day, but they don’t realize that the mirror is just a sheet of glass with a thin reflection of grace. The reflection of the support is protected by a special paint coat. If the paint on the back of the mirror is scratched, the reflective back of the mirror will be easily damaged. The damaged area of the mirror will be very visible.
Sometimes old mirrors start to look very worn, and an old mirror that looks spotted, streaked, and foggy more than likely has reflective damage. Not all spot cleaning in the world, what a person to do? How can an old mirror be repaired and restored to its former glory?
Fixing Old Mirrors
Old glasses naturally show their age. A few spots or cracks in an old mirror can add character to an antique wine cabinet, cabinet, or other vintage vintage. If the old mirror only has a few spots or scratches, consider keeping the mirror as is. After all, the ancients are not supposed to be seen as new. That bumps and bruises take character and charm.
If you absolutely must have an old mirror that looks like new, old mirrors can be repaired through a process called “resurfacing”. Unfortunately, it is worth the time for me to get the result. Even as a do-it-yourselfer, restoring the jewelry is expensive, and the results are not always satisfactory. Replacement is usually the most cost-effective way to “repair” a badly damaged mirror.
A simple quick-fix for a mirror with an outdated reflection is probably a kitchen drawer, cabinet, or closet. Although this quick-fix isn’t a perfect solution to a mirror with an outdated reflective surface, it can certainly help disguise the damage. A smooth piece of aluminum foil can be attached to the back of the mirror to reveal a worn or damaged area. A nail can work quite well to camouflage damage, and more than likely no one will notice the damage unless you tell them about it. If you decide to tape the aluminum nail to the back of the damaged mirror, remember that removing the tape will further damage the reflection. Try this method at your own discretion.
Cleaning and Maintenance of Mirrors
Never clean the back of the mirror. Cleaning solutions The backlash can damage your support forever. If the back of the mirror is dirty, only with feather dust. A little bit of dust is better than a mirror that is permanently damaged!
Clean your glasses or window shop cleaner, or make your mirror cleaner mixed with four months of denatured white vinegar. alcohol, or ammonia with 2 tenths of water. A mirror cleaning solution can also be made with a mixture of hot tea cleaners. Lint-free paper towels work better than cloths for cleaning and drying series.
