For runners looking for a little exercise before the big meal of the day, the Cleveland Turkey Trot is a popular choice. In 2011, the race will celebrate its 30th year.
Turkey Trot, sponsored by Hermes Sports & The event takes place on Thanksgiving Morning, Thursday in Nov. 24. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., a 1-Mile Fun Run begins at 8:45 a.m., and a 5-Mile Timed Run begins at 9:30 a.m.
The race starts and ends at the Galleria at Erieview, at 1301 East 9th St. in Cleveland.
Participants receive a customized long-sleeve shirt, and all finishers receive ribbons. Prizes will be drawn at random for runners-up, and winners in each age group will receive prizes. The costume is also on the line at the beginning of the competition. Parking is available at lots in the area and on the adjacent streets.
