Just 15 minutes from town and 20-minutes north of Durango Mountain Resort, you’ll find the Apple Orchard Inn. The lodge offers stunning views of the mountains and award-winning grounds complete with ponds, waterfalls, and streams.
The Apple Orchard Inn is located in the stunning Valley of the Souls 8 miles north of Durango in Hermosa. A county road lined with orchards and historic farms leads you to the stable. Coming up, you will see a large country house that has four rooms and six cottages.
The main house has a sitting room with comfortable furniture, a river stone fireplace, and original artwork. There are large windows to view the stage and the Brazilian cherry area for the show are all located on the first floor. Breakfast can be served each morning in the dining room or on the patio where you can enjoy the mountain scenery.
The main guest rooms are all uniquely decorated. Four bedrooms are to be found in the main house. They are named Rome Beauty, JonaGold, Granny Smith, and McIntosh. Do you see the apple theme running?
The beauty of Rome – this place is dominated by a river rock fireplace. There are two horned chairs and a king-sized bed. The private bathroom has a jetted tub.
JonaGold – with views of the old orchard and the cliffs of the Valley of Souls is a unique place. It contains a queen size bed, a sleeper sofa and wicker chairs.
Granny Smith – This room faces east and allows a view of the inn’s garden, the pool and the cliffs and mountains to the east. It also includes a queen size bed, a sleeper couch and wicker furniture.
In McIntosh – located on the north side of the mayor’s house is the coolest place in the summer months. The view from this point is of the northern mountains. It has a very large king bed and two large wingback chairs.
Private cottages are perfect for a romantic-getaway or Colorado honeymoon. All cottages have covered porches or rocking chairs that cover the central pool and garden area.
Many summer and winter activities are available to enjoy in the area. Annual, Historic Durango and Silverton Narrow-gauge-railroad”>Narrow Gauge Railroad takes visitors to the Soul River Valley which allows for some of the most stunning scenery in Colorado. Mesa Verde National Park is only about an hour from the Apple Orchard Inn > and you will find a museum.These are a few attractions of the region.
