COSI, the Center for Science and Industry in Toledo, Ohio offers fun for the whole family. The Science Center welcomes our family time, with kids big and small all finding something fun to do—and adults, too! I would like to give you an overview of what to expect when you arrive and about the special facilities.
COSI Toledo opened its doors to the public on March 1, 1997, and has now welcomed nearly 3 million visitors. Middle Toledo. It is located in the former Portside Market square along the Maumee River. The market was closed in 1990, leaving a large, empty space that the Mayor and City Council established, which was very well filled by our Science Center a>. COSI Columbus is supported by the resources of COSI Columbus, the first COSI in Ohio. In 2005, COSI Toledo received the Institutes of Museum and Services “National Award” for community service. very prestigious for museums in the country. With over 300 exhibits, the science center offers a lot of choice for the family to visit.
When you first enter COSI, there is a certain button of the exhibition to capture the knowledge of your family. A large selection of bubble toys and kits, including wall bubbles and bubble containment rooms that “put yourself in” bubbles to offer a soapy good time! Also in this area there are individual boards with fun games ranging from monkey vats to marble towers. These provide a quiet opportunity to be active with the child without a bunch of other people touching their hands at the same time. Next to this display is a wall of giant images, which visitors press various things, including your body into it as a projection of large plastic “sticks” come out in front. The very pleasure.
Go further, you will find a high wire bicycle. This bike, designed with a large weight suspended from the bottom of the bike, sends any large child or adult “bike” through a high wire inserted over a 2 story side of the room. At first try, you will be surprised that you are not right in the flip, but this is definitely an experience not to be missed!
There is a toddler play area next door, a full water play area, a tree house and a sound room with lots of fun things to crack, crackle, sound A noisy place, but a lot of fun for little hands to explore not so little sounds! The area also contained a kidscape, a room for children under the age of 1 to find, explore and not be run over by older kids!
Going down, you’ll find a fun area and an illusion area. The sports area offers rock wall, the opportunity to throw and set your clock at high speeds, hitting the stadium track for 10 meters, ” “virtual” tests hunting and spear, jump and speed. Learn about the way sportscasting happens on TV and get the inside scoop on your favorite ball games. Clearly an area designed more for dads and sons. But it is a tricky area for everyone. This area has optical illusions, sensory illusions-including alternating hot/cold bars that feel like you’re getting burned, a real interesting play on the sense of touch! This bedroom is probably our favorite. The room provides an opportunity to see what things look like from a hard angle, where the balls “climb” the floor and roll “up” the shelf. Plays with your head a bit while you’re there, not for those with vestibular or common balance issues, that’s for sure!
I also saw BOSU. This giant man Yo-Yo offers you the opportunity to jump to the top line in a fun and challenging event, this is fun for adults to try to jump their kids. Don’t miss it!
There are many other exhibitions on sale, but these are just a few of the many choices to explore. Take your time, then you’re in Toledo, Ohio area to explore COSI Toledo. You and your home will not be confused, and you will know something on the way!
