Silicone baking cups have become extremely popular over the past few years. People love being able to bake muffins and cupcakes without having to use a muffin pan. They also love the fact that silicone baking cups can be used over and over, because this eliminates the need for disposable paper cups. But, what people love the most about silicone baking cups is the fact that they are non-stick. They love being able to pop their muffins and cupcakes out without the cup sticking. Unfortunately, many people only use silicone baking cups to make baked goods. Silicone baking cups can be used for so much more. Here are a few of the creative ways to use silicone baking cups.
Creative Uses for Silicone Baking Cups #1: Chocolate Mold
One of my all time favorite ways to use silicone baking cups is to make chocolate bowls. All you have to do is brush the inside of the silicone baking cup with melted chocolate and allow to set in the refrigerator. Once the chocolate is set, remove the silicone baking cup and fill with your favorite dessert. For example, you could fill the bowl with chocolate mousse, pudding, or even ice cream. These chocolate bowls make a great dessert for parties.
Creative Uses for Silicone Baking Cups #2: Mini Ice Cream Cakes
Once you have baked your cupcakes, remove them from the silicone baking cups. Cut off the bottom of the cupcake and place back in the cup. Add a layer of softened ice cream and then add the top of the cupcake. You will need to remove a section of the cupcake so that the top fits on top of the ice cream. Place in the freezer and allow to harden. Once the cakes have frozen, frost with icing or whipped cream and serve immediately.
Creative Uses for Silicone Baking Cups #3: Jell-O Mold
Another fun way to use silicone baking cups is to use them as a Jell-O mold. Once the Jell-O has set in the mold, remove the mold and place upside down on a serving plate. Top with whipped cream and a sprig of mint. This helps make everyday Jell-O into a pretty and easy dessert.
Creative Uses for Silicone Baking Cups #4: Ice Cream Mold
If you love ice cream, you’ll love this tip. Allow ice cream to soften and then spoon it into the silicone baking cups. Place in the freezer until solid. While the ice cream is setting, melt chocolate in a double boiler. Once the chocolate is melted allow to cool. Remove the ice cream from the freezer and from the mold. Get a cookie sheet and line it with wax paper. Quickly dip the ice cream into the melted chocolate and place on the cookie sheet. Put the ice cream back into the freezer immediately. This will be a frozen treat that your kids will love, plus you can customize it in any way. You could use strawberry ice cream with milk chocolate or you could even use dark chocolate ice cream with white chocolate.
Creative Uses for Silicone Baking Cups #5: Frozen Fruit Salad
One of my favorite holiday desserts was a frozen fruit salad that my cousin made. It was a mixture of sour cream, maraschino cherries, pineapple, and nuts. It was so good, but removing these desserts from the frozen muffin pan was almost impossible. Luckily, this dessert is easier to remove when you use silicone baking cups. It doesn’t matter what type of frozen dessert you make, you will still be able to easily peel the silicone baking cup off of your dessert.
