Advice for Your Cruise

When you book your Spirit of Alaska cruise, Cruise West will send you more information. Included is a file that provides general rules of thumb for what you should do on a cruise. In general, the best strategy is to think casually and have many “layers”. All Spirit of Alaska cruises are very casual in nature, so there’s no need to bring anything fancy, but if you bring plenty of layers of clothing, you can shed as many layers as you need and get the most out of your experience. Also, be aware that there are no laundry facilities on board, so make sure you have enough for the days you’ll be on board.

Each of the Spirit of Alaska cruise ships carries trained medical officers in case any accidents arise. However, make sure you let Cruise West know before departure if you have any special medical needs. They are indeed useful for adapting to you, but you need to know what these adaptations are. Be sure to let the staff know if you have dietary requirements that must be met. Seasickness is a concern of many sailors. Because Spirit of Alaska cruises stay in shallower waters and encounter very little rough water, the likelihood of getting seasick is very low.

The cost of your Alaskan cruise covers all taxes and fees, but you’ll want to have some extra cash on hand. Most cruises include that in their cruise costs, so you don’t need to send a crew to work, but you’ll want to throw in some gifts, cocktails, and some down-to-earth meals.

Perhaps one of the nicest things about Spirit of Alaska cruises is that you don’t need a passport or visa. Just get your bags packed, lots of moving, and enjoy the journey of life.
