Many people use wooden spoons for cooking, but if you are somehow finished with the wooden spoons you need, use some of those projects that will look great in the kitchen for cute works of art. Spoons can be decorated with additional hardware to make a unique potholder dish for the side of the refrigerator or in front of the stove.
Wooden spoons come in various sizes, but they are not very expensive. Grab a grocery-sized bag or whatever you already have in your kitchen drawer. You can purchase the small items at local craft stores that you need to craft the small boards of potential followers.
Start with a clean, fat-free spoon and paint the face into the hollow of the spoon. A regular marker works well for making faces but you can also use others to make artificial faces. Glue in the furry eyes, mouth slowly, or other things to choose for use. After giving birth, you will do your hair.
You can buy doll hair in several colors and styles at any art store. Hair is available in packs that will provide a lot of hair for a dollar. If you prefer to do your doll’s hair several times. Cocl. Pick longer hair if you want, and use short fringes. Or, go the cheap route and glue balls of cotton on a spoon to make the old baker. Once you have created the face and hair, you can easily add other decorations.
Cut out skirt cloth or gingham cloth to create a bow for the doll. Glue the bow on the rounded part of the spoon, in the hair. Or cut the cloth into a triangle, glue it in place, and make a hair bandana cover. You can glue on a simple satin bow or even buy a mini red hat for spoon glue. The final look is up to you.
Adjust the bow for the “neck” area to create an image of the dress, or as glue on a bow tie. A spoon doll doesn’t have to be female! Wear a beard and mustache to make a male character. Or, buy a crafty beard and beard and glue it in place. It’s a lot of fun to create many different characters.
When you’re done creating the man spoon, you’ll add a magnet to the inside. Glue a flat, square magnet to the inside to make it magnetic. Put it in a wood or other metal area. You will need to add hardware that will allow you to hang from the wooden spoon character.
Screw in the small “c” hooks that hold the potholders. Hooks just aligned with the front of the loop. So really, you don’t absolutely have to make potholder satellites out of spoons. Confused faces are just cute characters and stuck in the fridge. If you want to hang the spoons somewhere, just glue the non-metallic ribbon, folded in half, to the inside. Bandages can help you hang the spoon on a nail, the back of a curtain or another place.
Do something similar using a wooden fork. Create hair or a hat that covers the wood. Face on the flat side of the fork. Screw the fork handle hooks. Attach a loop or magnet to the back.
Cute spoons make fabulous gifts as great decorations for your kitchen. Nothing is done with the ease of the bow, and no quiver is taken up. Children decorate their spoons. They will come up with completely different characteristics than you. It’s time to spend some great crafting time with the kids!
