The entire season of Dancing with the Stars comes to a head this evening with the 2007 Fall Corona. He published a brief recap of last night’s dances, as well as Celine Dion’s performances, lots of video clips from throughout the season, and re-enacted appearances by the cast.
After a recap of last night’s action, co-host Samantha Harris approached the three finalists backstage and asked them what they missed most about the Dancing with the Stars experience. Maria Osmond said that she would send friendships, Melanie Brown named a large crowd, and Helio Castroneves said that he prefers. miss julianne Tom Bergeron’s army then reviewed the leaderboard, and star Celine Dion played the stage to make my heart go super-beating. Professional dancers Cheryl Burke and Mark Ballas, Edyta Sliwinska and Alec Mazzo, a dancer I couldn’t quite identify (I think either Karina Smirmoff or Elena Grinenko) and Tony Dovolani were accompanying me on the dance floor.
After the commercial break, Marie and Jonathan were named the third place couple, and were eliminated from title contention. Tom asked what Mary wanted to take away from the Dancing with the Stars experience, and she said that she felt like she had been “a Cinderella story” for the last ten weeks. He also proclaimed himself a “dancer”, despite the judges’ involvement. During the segment after the elimination of the films from the season of the show, Mary and Jonathan praised each other and had super fun. They said their final farewell to the competition by performing their favorite dance of the season, Tango.
The segment takes a look back at the last ten weeks of the competition and highlights the moments — good and bad — from each couple’s season on the show. The first couple to remove this season, modeled after Josie Maran and her partner Alec Mazzo, performed the Foxtrot. It featured a bunch of funny moments with Marie and Jonathan, Mel and Maks and Helio and Julianne then. Model Albert Reed and his partner Ana Trebunskaya then returned to the ballroom with a rendition of the hip-filled action Cha Cha Cha. In the post-dance interview, Tom told them that their elimination in the second week was a surprise to him, and Albert agreed and said that it was so strange.
The women’s performances dominated the men’s and allegations of illegal merchandise abounded on the other side as we entered the third and fourth weeks of the competition. Entertainer Wayne Newton and his partner Cheryl Burke were eliminated in third place when they actually did a regular interview, as Wayne’s doctors told him not to dance due to health issues. Wayne, however, will appear as part of the Dancing with the Stars tour. A segment featuring comments from friends of the two remaining finalists then hit the screen. Boxer Floyd Mayweather and his partner Karina Smirnoff made it back to the ballroom and like Wayne, they didn’t dance because Floyd is undergoing a “grueling training camp” for their upcoming fight on December 8th.
After the break, Entrepreneur Mark Cuban and partner Kym Johnson, five couples removed, returned in the final dance. Their fun was followed by a review of the last few weeks of the competition, including the drama of Sabrina and Marc’s early elimination and Maria’s failing song. Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan and partner Mark Ballas, the sixth couple eliminated this season, are back with their Cha Cha Cha. In the post-dance interview (after the applause of the audience stopped) Sabrina was included in the dance with the star tour. Samantha spoke with former Mirrorball winners Lachey and Apolo Anton Ohno Drew Lachey about what the finalists are likely to feel.
Actress Jane Seymour and partner Tony Dovolani returned to the ballroom with the Viennese Waltz after a break. A bunch of feature clips from last week’s dance came next. Soap star Cameron Mathison and partner Edyta Sliwinska, who were eliminated just short of the semifinal round, hit the dance floor with the Paso Doble. In a post-prom interview, Cameron said she had “a sense of how much” competition she did, and then took off her shirt and tossed it to Samantha. Then, Drew Lachey stopped by his upcoming show Battle Dance: Bruno v. Carrie Ann.
Post-commercial, Actress Jennie Garth (called better by the judges) and partner Derek Hough, who were eliminated just last week, hit the dance floor when they realized their Mambo. Samantha was talking on stage with the other two couples. Celine Dion returned to the stage with her song Caught in the Fall while playing a compilation of emotional video clips from the season. A head-to-head evaluation of Helio and Mil was then aired. The judges praised Mil’s courage, and Len called Helio a “natural competitor.”
After another break, Mel and Maks and Helio and Julian burst into the clouds of fake smoke and horn. Mel and Maks performed their first favorite of the season: Mambo. Len called it “an absolute revelation” and Maks said it was “unbelievable”. Bruno called her “a star” and praised Carrie Ann for her enthusiastic performance. Backstage, Mel revealed that she would be “dumb” if she won the trophy. To do 30
Helios and Julianna followed suit and performed their favorite dance, the Quick Step. Bruno said that he “looks like he’s making a pocket of honor already” and said that “the history of the sport really makes him happy”. Carrie Ann said it was “my favorite dance,” and Len praised her for taking risks with Julianne’s “known difficult choreography.” Backstage, Mel and Maks applauded their efforts. Helio thanked “all of America” for their support during the competition. She also scored a perfect 30. Tom then chatted with a few on the sidelines about the controversy.
After another commercial break, the segment airs the two remaining celebrity relationships with their partners. Mel insisted that she and Maks are “family now” and praised him for building her confidence. Helio said that he “never thought that he would have so much fun ballroom dancing and “he’ d Yes again without thinking. Helio and Julianna were crowned the winners of the Fall 2007 season of Dancing with the Stars. Samantha took a moment with Mel and Maks to congratulate them on their performance, and Helio and Julianna raised the Mirrorball Trophy high into the air.
