Daniel Boone Motor Inn Pikeville, Kentucky: Stay and Support Local Business

Every year, my family has their family reunion in Long Fork, Kentucky, and every year we stay at the Daniel Boone Motor Inn in Pikeville, Kentucky. There are a few major hotels in the area, but the Daniel Boone Motel is one of the only owner operated hotels and the one we usually stay at on our annual trip.

Pikeville is a small town in eastern Kentucky with approximately 6,500 residents. Ask anyone in the area for a hotel recommendation, and odds are good that they’ll point you in the direction of the Daniel Boone Motor Inn, although I’m not sure why. I’m also not sure why we stay there when there are so many other options, but we have to because they treat everyone like family.

Three years ago when we ventured to Pikeville for a funeral, the owners of the Daniel Boone Motor Inn gave us a discounted rate at the hotel because of a death in the family. And since our family rents 10-15 rooms every year in September, they also give us discounted prices for the reunion. That’s what you won’t find in big lots motels.

The Daniel Boone Motor Inn lacks a lot of charm. Since it was over 90 degrees during our visit there in September, the pool was already closed. You won’t find room service, laundry service, or fancy suits, but you will find a comfortable room and good service.

The motel allows pets, which is more important to us because we have three small dogs not . as to leave it at home, and not charge extra cares. Coffee is available 24 hours a day from the front desk, which although not advertised, we were able to get free bags of ice for our coolers.

I don’t think the rooms at the Daniel Boone Motor Inn in Pikeville. There are the usual hotel amenities; beds, bed linen, televisions, etc. and many small bathroom. I’m close to six feet, and I walked into the room and almost climbed into the shower to close the bathroom door. .

One of the biggest complaints at the Motel was that the floors were dirty. After walking around the room barefoot for several hours, I discovered that the bottoms of my feet were almost black, and the same thing happened to other family members. My other major complaint is the dissonance of the rooms , 7 or a refrigerator or microwave was missing. Someone said the hotel was undergoing small remodeling, which can explain so some of the rooms at the back of the motel were twice the size of ours.

As I said, we have stayed at the Daniel Boone Motor Inn in Pikeville countless times, and it changes something like this every year. Many construction workers and local miners live in the Motel, and last year there were a lot more people living in the Motel. than this year. It was always interesting to talk to the workers and hear about their lives and how they work, but we hardly saw any of the workers this year.

The Daniel Boone Motor Inn in Pikeville has a small playground to keep the kids busy, and the teenagers in our group were happy to spend their weekend walking around the motel. They also offer free speed internet, a new addition from last year. The staff are quite friendly, ready to take orders and happy to explain things. The maids were understanding when we explained about the dogs in the room, and brought us extra towels and pillows.

There are other hotels in the Pikeville area, but the only choice for us is the Daniel Boone Motor Inn. If you want to come to the area, or just pass through, make sure to stay at the Daniel Boone Motor Inn and do your part to support the local economy.
