For everyone who stood in line for an Hour on Deal or No Deal audition at some point, NBC delivered the ultimate slap in the face. In the previous article, The Case of the Arkansas Entrepreneur, I made an appearance on Brooks Leach’s show, hyped by the show “Arkansas Entrepreneur”. As I said in that episode, Leach probably thinks it’s French for “horns,” as Leach left the show under a hundred dollars again.
If it is true that cameras have added ten pounds, these shows must have a lot of cameras as far as I can tell. But Leach was a little more moderate this time, but it happened at about the same time. In the second round, his best offer was only $29,000, down from $218,000 in the first. I think this first time home buyers is a whopping $35, certainly under $100.
In a local newspaper article last fall, Leach claimed the show’s producers talked to him about building NBC shows around him. compare him recently to Chris Farley. They lack something in common. Farley was fat, but he did have talent, which the philosopher Cornpone Leach doesn’t seem to know much about. What kind of show could you build around him anyway, The The Biggest Loser? The NBC weight loss show will be much more suitable for this person.
It seems very unfair for a man to get a second chance, especially in light of the fact that Leach himself did not even listen, and that thousands of other fighters would still be getting afirst chance. Many of us can’t get enough of the hype on NBC’s hit show, but I doubt most of us could be more annoying than Brook Leach was in his double appearances. As far as success goes, Leach set the bar so low, 99% of the public couldn’t help but do better.
I guess that must be what the show’s producers are looking for, as they seem to be increasingly inclined to show a parade of Howie Mandel wannabes, bad dancers, and other confused misfits who are similar to the stars of another NBC show, My Name. Count An. Now that Leach is out again, do producers take a chance on “Three-Time Loser” or do Ethan Suplee (Randy Hickey) need a new target?
