My office is the coldest room in our house, and for the past few years we’ve been using an oil-filled heater. This worked well, but it got very hot, and I had to consider a benefit next to it. When I saw the DeLonghi Ceramic Tower Heater at Costco for only $42, I decided to give it a try.
Description
The heater is black and measures 22″ tall, with an 8″ base, and the fan has the option to swing or stay stationary at the touch of a button. Several silver-colored buttons on the front panel of the heater contain: oscillating base, time, temperature setting, mode, and on/off. An LED lights up to a digital temperature display, and the red light turns on when the heater is on.
As soon as the heater is turned on, it will keep on and the “on” light will illuminate. The heater will start on “low” and the LED display will tell you the current temperature of the room heater. If you want more heat, simply switch the mode to “high”. There are + and – buttons that allow you to increase or decrease the temperature setting.
The motorized rotation base will help distribute the heat evenly to the larger chamber. If you don’t want to swing the heater back and forth, you simply push the button and it will stay in place. Wait until the heater points to where you want it and press the stop button. It has two heat settings, high generates 1,000 watts, low generates 850 watts. It has a safety feature built into it if the heater shuts off.
Thoughts
It’s a great little heater for the price. It has a thermostat that will keep the temperature constant, and the heat is shut off when the ambient room temperature is 2 degrees above the set temperature. Likewise, when the room temperature is too low, the heater will come on. This unit also comes with a small remote control (complete with battery), which comes in handy if the heater is on the other side part of the room. If you feel more comfortable using the heater without fear, you can easily switch to manual operation by pushing a button.
You can set this heater to heat in two ways, either Centigrade or Fahrenheit. Another nice feature about this heater is that it has a minimum energy consumption feature that will keep the room temperature at 42 degrees to prevent freezing. Protection with this heater is minimal, the manual says to run a vacuum through the intake air and drain the grills” regularly, but usual I do that when I have an empty room, I hold onto it.
The heater occupies this little space, mine is not very hot to the touch, and it has a very strong fan that heats the room he breathes It took me a few minutes to answer the buttons on the front with the manual buttons because I wasn’t sure what all the signs stood for. The learning curve is very low and this heating works like a pleasure for us. It feels nice to have the heat directly on me, and within an hour my job is nice and toasty.
There is also a safety feature that will shut the unit down if it overheats. The heater comes with a one year warranty.
