Discovery Channel’s Top 10 Shows

Containing shows ranging from the dirty to the wild, the Discovery Channel has a show for everyone.

A Haunting features stories of people who are tormented by either an aggravated or an obstructed spirit. Based on a true animated series, this show makes people wonder if there is life after death. If there is life after death, why do spirits seem to haunt these people? My favorite episode is the story of a little boy who went with his sister and brother to their new home. While at home, uncomfortable and ill. He says that he went back home with his sister, but after a few days he felt differently. After hearing his family’s stories of dark visions, behavior and visions, they concluded that he was having them. An exorcism was performed and he escaped to be held.

Cash Cab is a game show made in New York where contestants play an unknown Trivia game. Based on results and history, the more you demand, the more money you get.

Deadliest Catch is a reality TV show about a fisherman in the Bering Sea. Fishermen watch for crabs and catch fish. My favorite segment of this show is when you follow the Hansen family on the boat. Brothers who have a boat together fight, argue and know how to catch the perfect fish.

Dirty Jobs has to be my beloved daughters, laughing every time Mike Rowe, TV host, dirty receives, or acts from office. They thought it was funniest when septic tanks thought they had the power to wash inside and they brought out the blush. As he does this, he is covered in raw sewage all over his trunk and gasps.

United. It shows everything from helicopter logging to water logging, how they cut wood, load it and haul it to the wood plants.

Lost in Seconds relies on a crowd that wants to see the loss. They range from blowing objects to crashing. While many things seemed lost, my husband’s favorite was when the propane tanks exploded. Knowing the danger of this happening in a rural area, these things are inflated to document the safety of the community.

Man vs. Wild is my favorite. He documents a man who is probably disappointed in places. They included desert, Antarctic and rainforest locations. In these wild places if one is trying to survive, it is a disgraceful demonstration of this fact. My favorite and most insightful scene is when the host is stranded in the rain forest and the tribesmen give him nuts and weeds to eat to relieve his hunger and thirst. Instead of proving the remedy, he proved the problem. Not only was he seriously ill, he had to call the doctors because he was sick.

MythBusters follows a group of people who bust or prove their heads to prove myths. Does mixing Coke and Pop Rocks make your stomach explode? When a rooster picks up a pig’s intestines and pops rocks and puts them in coke, it doesn’t explode. However, it made one heck of a mess.

Wreckreation Nation is based on a guest traveling across America in search of a hilariously sharp game. My favorite was when they went barstool sledding. Using barrels from a local bar, they take them down a snow-covered hill.

Storm Chasers is about a group of scientists who get a little too close to hurricanes. They try to think of ways that warn people faster, and they try to look like a hurricane inside.
