The Easter Bunny was on his way to his sisters house yesterday, leaving behind 2 giant baskets filled with treats, clothing, jelly beans, and of course toys for his niece and nephew.
I stopped long after the arrival of the Easter Bunny, and made my way into my granddaughter’s room. Her and my grandson are glued to the television with a large Bingo board in their pocket.
I love Bingo, I sat down to see what the heck kind of Bingo game this was. One look at the Bingo boards and I realized that this was a kiddie version game. On their Bingo board faces such as Peter Pan, Aeneas, Pooh, Jafar, and Mickey glanced back at me with matching numbers next to their pictures.
This was cool because my niece who was still learning was able to match the pictures of the characters that were displayed in the numbers television every 15 seconds. Instead of saying ‘I have a B9’, he would say ‘Hey Aeneas!’ What is convenient for them.
After playing around with them, I decided to jump in. When we were on the main DVD screen, we got to choose what type of . Regular Bingo, Pattern Bingo, or Blackout.
We came with Blackout. In this game you have to fill the whole board to win.
Inside the box that the game came in were about a hundred red chips with Mickey Mouse gold logos drawn in white. These logs were obviously for the board.
Once the game started we were at it. Me, 25 years, against the fifth year and 10 years. old It was!
The game went as I expected. A huge picture number matching with the Disney character would pop on the screen. Access to the next number was 15 seconds, which is excruciating for my age. For young kids though, 15 seconds was the perfect amount of time they needed to see if they had a character number on their Bingo board.
About 5 minutes into the game, something called “WILD CARD” suddenly popped up on the screen. During the Wild Card intermissions, we were forced to shave a minute from watching a random Disney movie. I prefer books like Bambi, Peter Pan, etc. After the clipping was done we were then given an empty space to insert whatever characters we wanted, as long as it was on the correct colored line and the line was not yet filled with chips.
At the end of the game if someone calls bingo, it will make a big screen to display the numbers/characters called. This is a double check to make sure you don’t have any cheaters in the room!
Overall we had a lot of fun playing Blackout. The bingo game model, and the regular bingo game modes flew by faster than we liked, so we were stuck playing Blackout for a while.
My niece was at the game and my nephew enjoyed throwing the horn during the game. They both really enjoyed the little cartoon clips that would pop up sporadically throughout the game. Although this added a lot of time to call victory, we both enjoyed it, and it was nice to see clips of childhood classic cartoons.
My sister told me that the Easter Bunny is paying around $20.00 for the game. I think it was twenty dollars worth of Easter money well spent. Kids seemed to enjoy it, and families would also find fun playing together. It’s really just as fun as regular Bingo, only the kids can get involved, making it a really great family game.
I highly recommend Disney DVD Bingo for families with children. It is a fun way to spend time together on boring rainy days. It also helps younger children recognize numbers, colors, and match characters.
You can find Disney DVD Bingo at your local toy store’s board games.
