A mudroom is a small hallway of a house that can leave muddy boots and wet winter coats. This keeps children and adults from getting dirt and mud into the house.
Instead of piles of boots and coats, sweaters and jackets spilling out, build your own dirt storage lockers and keep everything organized. Children will soon be able to find their rain boots and coats.
Basic work woodworking-projects”>woodworking tools and skills to build this project. Plywood cut to size, or lumber to stock can be used. Melamine is available in different lengths and dimensions, but care must be taken to dry it. Adjustable brackets, 2″ and 2″ screws, 3″ long repair plates with screws. Everything you need is available at online or at your local DIY store.
Step one
Begin by clearing the kitchen or entry hall. Measure the length, width and height of the area. Record this on paper.
For this project we will use 8 shapes long by 6′ wide by 8′ high.
Two steps
See how many lockers you will need. It is good to fill lockers space for family, guests and extra storage space.
We will build one cell at a time. This allows the box to be moved for cleaning or mud repair or with the family to a new residence.
Step Three
Each box should measure: 16″ high, 6 feet high and about 2 feet wide. Individual boards sixteen feet wide are hard to find these days. This board is easily made by using dowels, dowels or rebar plates to join two boards together. Side by side.
Take two – 1x10x10 (one inch thick by 10 inches wide by 10 feet long) square boards one side and rip to 8″ width.
Cut the remaining strip into 1 by 14″ long pieces. For each panel, you will need four of these strips.
cut each long board to 6 feet in length. Measure the distance and cut. This will make the box top and bottom.
Place the two 8″ wide boards on the long edge. With the ends even, attach the strip to the top and bottom of the boards with 1″ screws. Place another strip 2 feet from the top across the boards. Do the same for the other 8″ panels.
Measure the inside of the back and front panels and mount the adjustable shoulder straps according to the package directions.
Attach the top by taking the board shorts and twisting it into a strip, keeping the ends even. Same thing at the bottom.
You now have the shape of the box. This is the beginning of your box. Measure the inside space between the second strip and the shelf. Additional storage can be made to the adjustable straps for more storage.
Attach heavy spikes to the bottom of the shelf or attach to the top of the inner winter coats. A tent rail can also be used.
Step four
Using corner nails, attach the top of the studs to the wall so that the unit cannot be pulled over. Attach multiple units together at the top using fixing plates.
Step Five
Finish by sanding, paint or stain according to your decorative taste. Bare crowns can dress up new lockers.
If you move, these lockers can be detached from walls and remove the plates from the top repair; they can be caught
They bought expensive lockers. In addition, they could not be in your space. By taking the time to measure and make your own, you can dress up your clay in style.
