When shopping, some of your biggest expenses may be cleaning products, especially laundry detergents and powders. If you’re cleaning your laundry table, looking at your box to see the list of ingredients, I’m sure you can’t even name many of them, let alone what they are or how they might affect your family’s health. Most of them are not considered eco-friendly.
In this article we learn to make our own laundry and “wash and wipe cleaner” in bulk. We will provide 10 bottles of laundry detergents, so we will adjust the ingredients to the necessary uses. I usually do 10-20 batches at a time and store them in the back of my linen closet with the laundry room, which, like most people, is not that big.
We will look at two different recipes, one uses baking soda, the other has Baking Soda. Washing soda is not available in all supermarket laundry detergents, although it is manufactured by Arm and Hammer. It can be bought online but the shipping cost will of course make it a little more expensive. From an environmental perspective, and where your health is concerned, it is worth every cent.

You want:
10 gallon Hot water – 5 X 2 gallon plastic buckets with broken airtight lids.1 Ligula wooden, 10 cups of Soda, 5 bars of Solis Soap, or other unscented or lightly scented.
Buckets can be purchased at large supermarkets or discount stores. Airtight lids are best to prevent accidental spillage if knocked over, but bucket lids that are not airtight can also be used.
Just:
-Grate five chains of soap, and put them in a large bowl and put it with cold water. Over low heat, allow the soap to begin to melt. Sometimes it is omitted to begin with. After it has melted half way continuously until it is fully dissolved, then turn off the heat.
– Fill your 5 buckets with warm tap water, and add cups of melted soap mixture to each bucket; Stirring with your wooden spoon.
-Add 2 cups of nitrite to each bucket, mix.
-Allow jars of cleaning liquid to cool to lukewarm.
– Replace the covers and store away from children.

As above recipe, except this time, replace the Baking Soda with 2 cups of Washing Soda per Bucket.
*For both recipes, use 1/2 to 1 full cup per load, depending on the load size or not clothing very polluted.

Washing soda is also an excellent product for removing harmful substances from other surfaces such as lipstick, vaseline, grease from food, motor oil and soap and wax
Here’s a recipe as good as store bought spray and wipe cleaners.
Wash and do:
1/2 gallon hot water
1/2 cup of washing soda
Washing sodium is sodium carbonate, like baking soda, so it is non toxic. But it is more caustic, when using this mixture, please put on some kitchen lighting gloves.
You can also make this bulk and store it in recycled milk bottles, but keep them away from babies.
