DIY Rabbit Cage on a Budget

Purchased rabbit cages tend to be overpriced and flimsy, especially if you have your heart set on one of the many “luxury” rabbit cages that provide extra space and comfort for your pet as an excuse for charging hundreds of dollars more. A cheaper, easier, and more efficient solution is to build it yourself. This simple guide will teach you how to build your own multi-level, “condo” style rabbit warren right in your home and on a budget, using materials available in any general, home improvement, or craft store for next to nothing.

Comments:

-1-2 cubic meters

-1 large crowd of zip-ties, not reversed

-1 small group of links, turned (for locks on the door, you will only need one to start, but you will want extra)

-A hard, smooth surface as a cage (and some extra, optional shelves with a line)

– A forceps

Build a Cage

1 Attach the square wire to your cage, size and shape, using strong ties. As long as you have space, the better. Make sure you leave at least one square in front loose on one side, like a door hinge – you don’t want to lift the whole thing off the ground whenever Mr. Cadbury wants it, after all.

2 The shelf or the inside of the wall, if you like, using additional squares, fix it securely to the wall with several ties. Don’t panic if it doesn’t seem stable enough to support your rabbit’s full weight just yet; step 4 will do. This will be your rabbit second floor, and depending on the dimensions of your cage, you may want to add even more to your new floor plan – if so great! It’s very easy to do, and the more corners and cracks your rabbit jumps around, the happier it will be.

3 Place the whole structure on a suitable hard surface – I find that a large sheet of cut plywood works well, providing a cool and easy clean surface to set your needs and play on. You can also glue the rest of the plywood sheet around the edges for a four to five inch lip, to loosen all the loose debris from the skin and stray balls where it belongs inside the cage. Innocent linoleum flooring or laundry room flooring will also work if you have one room to spare.

4 To slide the wooden dot through the walls under the middle edges, and the ceiling, if necessary, with additional supports. Next, cover all your light shelves to the feet of the tunnel in wire – use cardboard, plus plywood, spare linoleum or any similar material, as long as it’s heavy enough to stay in place. or in another way the shelf may be procured.

5 For the door, use another convertible as a door lock, then finish by trimming the ends of all the other links around the cage – try to leave a little excess. bite the plastic to the rabbit and squeeze out as few sharp edges as possible.
