Dollar Stores: Are They Really Worth Going To?

Every town has at least one or more dollars in the immediate area – lower prices than “bigger” supplies and better quality, however, on a recent excursion to one of these “discount” stores I began to wonder. “Are they really worth going?” Here are three local Dollar Stores in my area and a good rundown of if they are, in my eyes, the ones I’m going to.

Dollar Tree

Dollar Tree are all one dollar bills and they are correct. No matter what they have in stock, the price is guaranteed to never go over one dollar per item. Sometimes they have two-for-a-dollar specials (such as canned soup) that make it even more expensive to shop there. These stores tend to have almost nothing you need – including brand names. So, while many stores may sell “their brand” items, Dollar Tree stores tend to look for real name products on occasion, such as Suave Shampoos< /a> and even Dawn Dish Soap on occasion.

While some of the products may be unheard of, they may be popular brands from another country. This is where I, myself, sometimes tend to discover better products – like a cleaner smelling kitchen or an even better brownie. mix. Best knows if it doesn’t work like you thought the only investment was one dollar.

But one small wash at Dollar Tree- the only cool sale items are 20 ounce cola bottles. They do not sell cold meats, milk, or anything else cold, but canned goods such as fish, chicken, and rarely imitated they sell clothes, they are more aimed at the under 1 year old crowd .They should have a sample pack of 3 diapers, but nothing more than that is fine in an emergency.
In all things, I would hit up the Dollar Tree stores if you can because you definitely get more for your dollar. Besides, who doesn’t like the ability to find better quality at a much lower price?

Family Dollar

Family Dollar stores tend to be the best shop to go to, as well. I have often bought clothes for myself or my daughter, the quality is excellent and the prices are not much lower than Wal-Mart for example, saving you quite a bit of money. Like Dollar Tree, this store tends to sell almost anything for the home at slightly lower prices than the stores. While not as cheap as one dollar for everything, you can find great brands in the supermarket or even makeup brands.

This store I’ve been to doesn’t even sell cold goods except soda, but also a lot of food products at a slightly lower price discounted by others. Such packages of oreos are only a couple of dollars — saving on average at least 50 cents or less than going elsewhere.

But in some cases it is necessary to be careful. Sometimes these stores tend not to check their expiration dates properly and if you don’t check them yourself – you may have expired. It also includes cold sodas.

Family Dollar also sells newer laundry at a very expensive price, I really couldn’t find it. a store in an area that can provide some of their fabric at completely softer prices.

One thing I have noticed in Family Dollar stores is that the prices of certain items are no different than most other stores, which can make you do your due diligence and shop around first before buying anything in these stores.

Dollar General

For the most part, Dollar General is a huge disappointment at lower prices. While they claim to be less expensive, they usually aren’t.

An example. I went shopping at one for Christmas, looking for toys because they sell barbie’s, bratz.. among other brand name toys. I found an adorable little baby brat for ten dollars. I won’t buy it right then and there, but on my first trip to K-Mart and Wal-Mart I found the same dollar for less than eight dollars.

Because of the site, I usually buy my cleaning products and animal foods there, but not so much. they raised the prices of some cleaning supplies by at least fifty cents. Then not even a week or two later they picked up another quarter for them. Something that costs a dollar now costs $1.75, saving less than twenty-five cents than if bought elsewhere.

While Dollar General also sells clothing and shoes, sizes and styles vary and are often limited by location.

Over the side of Dollar General they sell milk, frozen foods and even ice cream. However, milk prices are not really much cheaper than other stores. I’m talking a few cents.

Compared to the other two stores already mentioned, Dollar General is the least likely to be recommended to others, mainly because they consistently raise prices and break the whole point of profit.

While these stores and prices vary by location, it’s somewhat sad to see that a dollar store can raise its prices repeatedly for whatever reason. He can only shop around first before joining some of these stores and hoping that he can be the best. with his own money – either in these pennies or in another. Don’t discount every store though just based on the downside. There are some items in these stores that are around at the lowest prices.
