Dr. Oz addressed the risks and warning signs of pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer is the most feared of all types of cancer because it is the deadliest, according to Dr. Oz. Pancreatic cancer is extremely serious because by the time it is discovered it has already spread out in the body, and it may be too late to effectively treat it.
“Why is pancreatic cancer so difficult to detect early on?” questioned Dr. Oz. Guest experts responded that there are simply “no effective screening methods” for the disease. However, “You can cut down your risks for pancreatic cancer,” advised Dr. Oz. Changing your diet will help lower your risks. One step is to cut down on fatty red meat, and increase colorful vegetables which have anti-cancer properties. It is recommended to consume at least five servings of fruits and vegetables each day.
Did you know that stomach pain and backache are two common symptoms of pancreatic cancer? Additional warning signs that Dr. Oz advised audience members to be aware of include pale colored stools, jaundice, and dark, tea colored urine. People who are experiencing these symptoms should be evaluated by a medical doctor as soon as possible. “Pancreatic cancer scares me,” admitted Dr. Oz. Pancreatic cancer can grow and spread in the body for decades before it is diagnosed. The pancreas is hidden behind other organs which makes it more problematic for doctors to screen.
There is a lot of research focused on pancreatic cancer, and a new vaccine has been developed which may help in the fight against the disease. Currently, doctors are trying to develop a blood test to detect early stages of pancreatic cancer.
