Easy Memorial Day Recipes

Everyone thinks of Memorial Day as the official start to summer. Although traditional hot dogs and hamburgers may be a staple for your recipe day, don’t stop there. Add some red, white and blue Memorial Day appetizers and desserts to remind your guests why we celebrate MEMORIAL DAY.

Easy Memorial Day Recipes – Appetizer

Cooked red, white, and blue shrimp

If you live near the coast – and if you don’t – why not enjoy the cooked shrimp of Memorial? Baked shrimp is one of those great make-ahead Memorial Day recipes for a picnic. You really can’t get this Memorial Day messed up!

Recipe for this easy Memorial Day work:
Stock pot (or other large pot)
Water
1 to 2 books medium-sized shrimp (de-greened and shelled)
Old Bay Seasoning or Zatarain Crab and Alpheus Ulcer
Optional: Additional object from the room (see below)
Strainer
Big Bowl (preferably blue)
The ice
Cocktail and tartar sauce, crash

Fill a stock pot about half way with water and pour the old bay seasoning or Alpheus Zatarain into the boiling water. The directions on the back of the container will either guide you in determining how much you need. A couple of tablespoons is usually good. Add more if you want.

Any or all of these from your pantry: dehydrated onion and dried celery (a couple of tablespoons) freshly squeezed lemon juice or two, bay leaves, a shake or two of salt and pepper, and the mystery of mysteries, a garlic or two (dehydrated or freshly pressed – or minced) and a few drops of Tabasci sauce.

Bring the water to a boil and add the shrimp.

GREAT RECIPE TIP: Cook just until the shrimp tails begin to roll back to the shrimp body (the shells may also look pink) and then remove from heat. This will only take you two minutes! Do not cook too long or your shrimp will be tough. hot water from the shrimp and lightly immerge them in cold water to stop the cooking process.

Fill a bowl with ice and add the shrimp. Store in the refrigerator until time to refrigerate. Serve with cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, and assorted crackers.

Easy Memorial Day Recipes – Desserts

Think red, white and blue and be as healthy as you want with these easy-to-make Memorial Day dessert recipes.

Here are some easy recipes to remember for the day:
Strawberries (or Raspberries) and blueberries
Strainer
Whipped Cream or Cool Whip (Light or Regular)
White Angel Food cake, pound cake, or sheet cake
White Street (only used for sheet cake)
Optional – mint leaves for decoration
Red wine, wide mouth glass with stems (Champagne, martini, red wine
Alternative: Clear sherbet or small, glasses of water

Healthy Memorial Day Table Recipe:
Wash and drain the berries. Pat dry with a towel. HoL strawberries and cut them in half. Combine strawberries and blueberries in glasses and top with Cool Whip. Garnished with mint leaves. Refrigerate until serving.

Another Healthy recipe Alternative:
Slice the white angel bread and add it to the bottom of your glass cake. Top with berries and Lite Cool Whip as described above.

Not for Calorie Conscious Recipe Alternatives:
They substitute white bread for angel bread. Add berries, Cool Whip or whipped cream.

Calorie recipe Alternative:
Buy or make a white flat cake with white icing. Wash and drain the berries thoroughly. Pat dry with a towel. creative for Memorial Day. Decorate the top of your white iced cake with berries. The standard design put red strawberries in the upper left corner, and alternate blueberries for a blue stripe throughout the rest of the mass. Serve a slice of cake in red, white or blue.

Or decorate the mirror. Print and cut out Memorial Day star shapes (5 pointed stars work best) in different sizes. Lightly place the parchment paper evenly across your cake. Lightly poke around the shapes with a butter knife, remove the paper stars, and fill in the red berries and blue shapes.

Be totally random and cover the top of your cake with red and blue berries. no special plan. It will still look beautiful and festive to remember the day.
