Easy Pickled Beets!

I personally am one of those people who don’t miss the taste of pickled beets, but I have a good recipe for them that my husband thinks is the best recipe in the world. The recipe from the ‘best cook in Waseca County’ is so tried and true. I’ve tasted this recipe and it tastes good, I’m more wondering if it would go over the beet bars…like the carrot bars.

If you are lucky enough to have a garden, or in my case, the kind that has an excessive amount of large beets, perfect!

The freshest ones are always the best. It falls into the category of everyone. Tomatoes are better if ripened on the vine, in the sun, compared to store bought. Do you know what i is? The same applies to Majors.

You need two plates. The first grill for boiling beets. The second pan will be used to mix the sauce ingredients together. It should be large enough to contain the sauce and all the sliced, peeled beets, because you will have to cook them in the sauce for fifteen minutes before you put them in the jars and ‘pot’ them.

To cook the beets, put them in a pot of water, bring to a boil and cook until they are tender. You’ll know when they’re done when you take a knife and dig out the Major. If it presses easily, they must be plucked.

When the beets are thoroughly cooked, the bottles should come apart easily. Leave the skin. Major cut. Many people who pickle beets use a knife to carve because it adds a decorative edge to the beets. This is a cosmetic detail that ‘looks pretty’. Some say that beets make them taste better because they can taste love in them.

One year I cheated and used a chameleon cut from the store. I seemed to be struggling and I have to admit, no one seemed to mind.

They are also cooked and peeled. Then divided. You will mix the following to prepare the mixture for the beets. Two cups of white sugar, two cups of white vinegar, two cups of water, one teaspoon of ground allspice, one teaspoon of ground cloves, one teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and one teaspoon of whole lunch at work.

Whatever size jars you use, you will have to process them in the water bath of the canner for at least 15 minutes. One thing that’s nice about this recipe is that other people who can’t, get a jar of these beets for Christmas. Enjoy!
