Family Recreation Park is Boonsboro, MD’s best-kept secret. Why? This park offers something for everyone, from the young to the old. The location is great, on route 40 between Hagerstown and Frederick. The park is located off the main road to add safety for children. There are many activities available, such as miniature golf, batting cages, go karts, and more. Snacks are sold at snack bar. The picnic skin for large groups and family events can be rented.
I hope this place is well hidden in Boonsboro because I had a great time here! Also, not everyone knows about Family Recreation Park. This is somewhere everyone can go on a date and have fun and get to know each other better while spending quality time together. Not only families with children come here, but teenagers also hang out, and adults also come to play. I enjoyed Family Recreation Park when I was a teenager, and I still recommend it as an adult. That’s what makes it so special.
Family Recreation Park has been around for years. opened their doors fifteen years ago with the vision of the owner, Jack Barr. He has eight children and wanted to establish a safe place for the family and for the children to come to play! The business started with a 19 miniature-golf course and 18 hole tee-driving and then went on to add karts, batting cages and more…
The most popular reason to come here is probably miniature golf. Last year, a major renovation project began to redo the minute course. The course was somewhat flat and standard in the area, but has now been transformed. In the sunset they became much more vivid, but still calm at the same time the fountains of water in the tract itself. The foliage is beautiful, with different types of trees and bushes, and provides a relaxed atmosphere for increased enjoyment. This attraction alone makes it worth visiting for an evening of golf. I would recommend this to families, friends and couples of all ages. Golf costs a minimum of $6.00 for adults, and half price for the second game. There are two slightly different golf courses, one 19 hole and one 24 hole. The 19th hole features a waterfall, and the 24th hole features a whale tank and handicap/stroller accessibility.
The tee-driving course can make a lot of fun! I personally prefer miniatures, but for some reason many people find great joy in seeing how far they can hit a golf ball. >. It seems that it provides great stress relief and also keeps you in great shape. I have to admit, I tried once, after a few arms. (Most people are probably in better shape than I am in upper bodies.) It only costs $5 to $7.50 for buckets of golf balls. to drive away
My personal favorite is the batting cages. I’ve always been a bit of a grave (okay, a big grave), and I played baseball as a child. So I’m out here to prove to myself and the world that I can still hit an 80 mph fastball. (Don’t believe me but it’s true!) I’ll start with 45 mph, then move to 60 mph, then to 80 mph. It’s very tempting to work on hitting that ball fast! It gives me a sense of accomplishment when I make and make contact and fly the ball to the net… You can also hit softballs hard or fast. It costs $2 for one round of engagement, or 3 for $5.
Next, try go-karts. I remember as a kid riding go-karts in Ocean City, MD. They have some great tracks there. But when they opened the go-kart track here, I was pretty impressed. Three different tracks. The first is a slippery slope. I don’t really care about this one. I’m more about speed than sliding around. But many prefer this track. It costs $4 per ride, or 4 for $14.00. Then you have a figure eight track. I think this one is the best running around. It costs $5 or 4 for $18. Adult/child double seater is $5.50. Finally, there is the trail of the young knights. This costs $3 or 4 for $10. You have to wear closed-toe shoes to ride some of these trails!
At last we come to no pain, no gain of pleasure: beautiful and free water. With water balloons, you take a bucket of waters and throw it at the other person and try to soak them. You can be your mom, your boyfriend or your wife. It costs $3 to $5 for water balloons. Paintball is the latest addition to the Family Recreation Park, an event that seems to be growing in importance over the years. I have two teenage cousins, and half the time I ask what they have been doing, they say they are playing paint! Young people and young adults love this game. It can be painful if you get hit in the chest with a pencil, but you wear some protective gear to minimize the damage, and the sport is considered relatively safe. You have to sign a waiver before you proceed. It costs about $20 to play for an hour, which comes with all materials and paint, and about $30 to play for two hours (about 280 painballs). I think it’s a message, so don’t wear good clothes! You can have hours of fun with this attraction.
In addition to the amenities available at the Family Recreation Park, you can also rent a picnic table. You could have a family reunion here, or a church picnic, or a large group of friends. This makes it so nice that you can spend the whole day here with family and friends. The park is open in May from 4:30 to 8 p.m. and until 10 p.m. on Fridays. On Saturday, the hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. In June, July and August, the hours change to 11 am to 10 pm, opening at 10 am on Saturday and noon on Sunday. Make sure to bring enough money if you come with a large family, but the cost is worth it! Last year, they offered a family discount package for $50, which came with ten coupons each for one attraction for redemption. Hopefully this 2007 season… will be repeated.
