If you like BBQ and you haven’t eaten at Famous Dave’s at the Legends Mall then you are missing out. They have some of the best BBQ around and you know Kansas City is known for its famous BBQ. The new location at the Legends Mall is a great place to take the family for a fun night with some good food.
Famous Dave’s is a popular eatery at the Legends so you better be prepared to wait; average wait time seems to be an hour or more during normal meal times. They give you a pager which is worthless; you can’t go further than the parking lot, so if you plan on shopping while you wait you are out of luck. The pager won’t alert you and you will miss out on your table. Famous Dave’s should invest in some pagers with a little more range so you can shop during your hour wait. Other than the waiting there is very little complaints I have about Famous Dave’s.
Service has always been wonderful; they servers are all well trained and obviously used to being busy and still providing great service to the customers. So far the service has more than exceeded my expectations. The bar takes time to get your drinks out if you order anything with alcohol you will have to wait a little longer but that is to be expected.
Food is what is great here you have a huge selection of yup you guessed it BBQ. You can choose from chicken, pork, beef, and even fish in what ever style of BBQ you like. Located on your table you will find every type of Famous Dave’s BBQ sauce and they bring you a free plate of fries so you can taste the sauces and know which ones you like. I suggest getting the huge family platter and sharing a wide variety of BBQ favorites with 2-4 people. I also love the cornbread, its some of the best you will ever taste.
Atmosphere is a little lacking at Famous Dave’s nothing special other than good food and some tacky wall decorations. Famous Dave’s is also a very loud place to eat, I am not sure as to why it is so loud but for some reason everyone seems to be yelling. If you are looking for a relaxing quite meal then don’t go to Famous Dave’s.
Overall the experience at Famous Dave’s is almost always a good one, great food, with a mall close by to do a little shopping after a pleasing meal. If you don’t mind waiting for the food then you will love the BBQ at Famous Dave’s.
