First World or Third World Country: Which is Truly Better?

Light colored sand, clear blue water, and warm sun – this is how I spent a week of my winter vacation. Just by looking at a picture or two, one can easily see the natural beauty of Thailand’s coasts and islands.

After a few days on the island of Koh Samet and saving life in Thailand, I couldn’t help but wonder: Do those islands have better ones? These Thai people live simple lives with simple jobs. Some gave massages and facials, others made jewelry. Others served cooked restaurant food, while others sold fruit on the beach.

I mentioned this thought to a friend that when I was traveling, he quickly said, “But why are so many people trying to leave here? Why are there weddings? It’s bad that they can’t leave.”

I sat and thought about this part. Even thinking about what he said, a part of me still couldn’t help but believe that the life of the islanders was still better. As I watched them go about their daily activities, I saw their lives not filled with empty material things, a house of fantasy, Cell phones, TV, designer clothes etc. When I thought of having such a life, I couldn’t help but wish I had the same simplicity.

After our four days on the island of Koh Samet we returned to Bangkok to celebrate the new year.

Many people have told me before that Bangkok is a weird city. I’ll admit it was quite unique, but I didn’t feel weird in a bad way, but in a good way. You still had big necklaces and a material brand name, but it wasn’t “ritzy. still have a good share of poverty, and the city is still gradually increasing most cities in this world.

As a newbie visiting Bangkok, perhaps the most frustrating part of being in all the goods and services was the constant bargaining. There was also a struggle with dishonesty when those goods and services were provided. These were consistent trends that I saw throughout Thailand, but I felt a stronger drive to earn on the streets of Bangkok

Actually, I didn’t check. After all, every society and country used trade and corruption (to some extent) for their economy. human is how to act when you live in situations. We believe that material possessions are never good enough, thus hurting each other.

With that in mind, I look to the developed countries of the world, such as the United States< /a>. The US is one of the most frugal in the world, but are people satisfied? No. Rather, we seek to find happiness in empty material things like brand name clothes, a brand new car, or a new house.

So what makes life better?

However, I longed for the life of an islander — I ate the sweetest and most delicious fruits every day without Thai such must always be surrounded by the man-made fantasy of the body to happiness
