Every time you show someone stripping and waxing a board, or how long a custodian staff has stripped and failed on a board in the past, a simple rule of thumb, as a supervisor, is to start from the beginning with your teaching. Watch the staff how they will strip and wax on the floor, otherwise you risk missing important steps or forgetting. New people don’t have the acumen and experienced staff sometimes, they have dangerous briefs that make getting the job right, dangerous.
A exposed and raised floor made of VCT tiles or Terrazzo requires the same simple steps:
1) Always start by reading the labels of the chemical products you use, to determine the dilution ratios and the equipment required to do the job. .
2) bring all tools to the job area for stripping and waxing. (bucket, water fountain, broom handle, brush head board, broom head rayon applicator, broom application bucket, wax, stripper, neutralizer, razor wood (razor), roto, auto scrubber, wet / dry vacuum, dust mop, scrubber pads, stripper pads, bug doodle pads (code holder) and half heads of cotton mops are covered).
3) Establish all temporary barriers to preventing interruptions or injury cases transient or transient. (rope or floor marking).
4) Wear all safety equipment: Gloves, goggles, and/or rubber shoes / boots.
5) Mix a proper and safe stripper solution according to the dilution ratio. By simply scraping all the gum stains and markings on the floor with a stick 4 razor.
6) Dust the area twice with a broom, the area is free of dirt.
7) Auto-scrape the area with a secondary scraper to ensure the area is free of dirt and debris, using a blue pad to deep scrub and loosen the surface finish.
8) Apply a demulsifier, well diluted with hot hot water. Do not allow the stripper to dry completely. Roll the old finish with a black stripping pad to loosen the finish from the contact surface. Do this as often as needed to remove the old finish (striping and changing pads as needed). Remove the stripper and wax and wet the residue. If using a broom bucket for a stripper, a bucket with a garbage liner, if you want to always use the bucket for something other than a stripper again.
9) After the area has been stripped, rinse the floor with a Neutralizer to remove the chemical action of any wax or stripper. Remove the Neutralizer and strip off the wet vac residue. If they don’t completely neutralize all of the stripper, you’ll find that the wax has peeled off after it’s been applied.
10) Iluo neutralized in clean floor twice water. Remove the wet residue and vac. Inspect the area to ensure that all exposure has been completed. If necessary, repeat the stripping process or degrease further to remove excess stripper.
11) Allow the area to completely dry after the removal and neutralization process (usually at least 15 minutes depending on the interior humidity).
12) Pour the Wax into the Wax Applicator Bucket. If you have a broom bucket, the bucket line can be lined with trash if you want to use this broom bucket for anything other than wax soil again.
13) Dip the rayon wax head into the wax applicator brush. I try to dip the applicator into the bucket, put on the wax, lift the head, but not too heavily absorbed. You will apply the wax using a “figure 8 motion” on the board, making sure to see that the wax has been applied evenly. Do not pour wax on the floor and then brush. Each coat should be moved lightly and evenly. For the seams of the address, from one row to the next, always overlap, quickly before the previous approach has begun to be erected, otherwise there will be a series of layers.
14) Wait at least 45 minutes (according to the instructions on the label and humidity according to the wax) before applying additional coats. To test whether the floor, use your fingers to see if the floor is still begging or not? If it is still lamentable, the floor will impress when you walk on it. The traces do not disappear under several coats of wax, nor are the marks left on the waxed floor. Do not put dirt on the floor, which will remain until the next time it is cleaned.
15) Apply additional coats as needed, waiting for the right time to wipe between each coat. (Standard coats need at least 4-5 coats). Don’t remind yourself of waxing a corner from which you cannot get out without walking on the waxed floor.
16) When it grows, the sides of the floor next to the walls should receive only 2 coats, because few walk from the ground to the wall.
17) Wash all equipment thoroughly after use, as stripped and wax will permanently affect your ability to use mopheads, buckets, or pads again in the future. This can often be done while waiting for the floor to dry.
18) If you burn the area between the coats of wax, so that they harden to the finish, the top coats are not polished, so that the gloss is the most needed. Combustion takes place primarily in the base layers of the coat or the bottom of the wax, because the coat wears the wax, and the better it is secured to the surface of the floor.
