Free Las Vegas Coupons on the Strip Are Not Scams

On a recent trip to Sin City, I decided to pay closer attention to the people promising free coupons along the Las Vegas Strip. These are the people who pass out free coupons, pamphlets, or coupon books. After saving over $350 on my trip from free coupons handed to me, I realized I will never ignore these men and women again.

Walking the Las Vegas Strip

Walking the Las Vegas Strip can sometimes be related to walking a gauntlet. As you travel, you have to pass through scores of people passing out adult entertainment business cards. You have to try to dodge at least a dozen people who promise free show tickets if you go to a timeshare seminar. After adding in all of the other people trying to sell trinkets, street performers, and costumed photo-op barkers, the people with the free coupons easily get lost in the shuffle.

Types of Coupon Handouts

There are three types of free Las Vegas coupon handouts I found while on my trip. While walking by different bars, I found workers passing out 2-for-1 coupons for their place of employment. My wife and I saved over $50 on drinks at bars such as Coyote Ugly in New York New York and Cabo Wabo inside the Miracle Mile Shops. Other people were passing out pamphlets with coupons on the back pages. I used the Nathan’s coupons on the back of most of the flyers to save about $30 on snacks.

Free Las Vegas Coupon Books

From time to time, you might find a person offering free coupon books. If it is called “Free VegasValues Coupon Booklet,” make sure you grab it. You can usually spot these people, as they have large black sun visors strapped to their backs. The VegasValues booklets include over 40 pages of coupons ranging from 2-for-1 buffet or drink offers to discounts on shows such as “V: The Ultimate Variety Show,” “Peepshow Starring Holly Madison,” and “Absinthe.

We used two $5 off coupons for the Titanic Exhibit at Luxor and saved $10 total. We used a 2-for-1 ticket to see Hypnotic, saving $40, followed by two tickets for free buffets at Harrah’s, saving another $40. We also checked out “Absinthe” while we were in Vegas. We used coupons from the booklet and got $20 off of each ticket. We also won some money while using the “$50 in Free Play at Casino Royale” coupon at the back of the VegasValues book.

Where to Find Them

The people handing out the drink coupons can usually be found directly outside of the clubs they work for. They will be seen wearing the uniform of the business. The pamphlet people can be found anywhere, and I was unable to discern any pattern as to where to find them. The people with the VegasValues coupon books were usually between the most popular casinos (such as between Caesar’s Palace and Bellagio) or on the pedestrian bridges. If you have the opportunity to pick up some of these free Las Vegas coupons, make sure you do.
