Looking for a new Disney princess that’s not quite as sugar-coated as the standard fare? Why not check out Merida from Disney’s newest Pixar release “Brave?” Merida is definitely no Cinderella. She’s more akin to Lady Macbeth (minus that nasty business of murder) that Sleeping Beauty. If you liked the movie “Brave,” which premiered on June 10, 2012, you’ll want these free printable coloring pages and activities from the film.
“Brave” takes place in 10th century Scotland. It features a spunky, red-haired lass who’s more interested in archery than handsome princes, especially those looking for matrimony. Start your quest for adventure and fun at the official “Brave” website, here. You’ll find games including Triplet Mischief (based on the antics of Merida’s rascally brothers), Highland Games, Target Challenge (to hone your bow and arrow skills) and Temple Challenge.
Why not throw a “Brave” themed birthday party? The website has everything you need to do so. Click the Activities link for free printable paper crafts, recipes and party supplies. Print free invitations and send to guests. There’s a printable booklet, “Brave” paper figures activity set and a 3D cut-and-paste figure of Merida. There is also a printable paper crown like Queen Elinor’s for the birthday child. Guests will enjoy making shrink charms. Serve chocolate bear claws and Scottish sweet buns using the recipes provided. Follow up your party with “Brave” thank-you notes.
Visit the “downloads” link for wallpapers, icons and skins. There are images of Merida, Angus (her horse), King Fergus and Queen Elinor, Lords MacGuffin, Macintosh and Dingwall and Merida’s suitors. There are also posters of bears, boats and battles. To use these as coloring pages, open the links then click to save to your computer. From your “documents” file, click print. When the print menu opens, check “print in grayscale” or print from the black ink cartridge. This will print the image in black and white.
Colouring-Page.org has 19 outline coloring pages from “Brave” featuring all the movie characters. Print the set and make a coloring book from them.
If you haven’t seen the movie yet, these activities will whet your appetite and get you ready for a royally good time.
