Fun and Low-Maintenance Entry Level Jobs

Maybe you’re a student, or a recent high school graduate. Maybe you are a bored housewife, and your children are finally old enough to get on the bus without your help. Perhaps you have re-entered the workforce after recovering from an accident. Whatever the reason, here are some cheap maintenance jobs that require little or no prior experience to handle, and don’t involve cleaning up after the animals, changing diapers or flipping burgers!

1.) Video/game rental store

This is the perfect choice for someone who wants to shop but doesn’t really want to work in a really busy place or Grocery. Most video rental stores don’t open until at least 10, which gives you time to sleep in a bit (a plus!). Usually in dress code (maybe at least a polo shirt), but the air is quite casual. The pay is not luxurious, but it is decent, and you can watch and talk movies all day long. Pretty good for an entry level job, especially if you are looking for some time.

2.) Sheetz (gas station/mini-mart of your choice

As long as you don’t pump gas (which would be a negative as far as I’m concerned) at a gas station with a mini-Mars inside, it’s a low maintenance job. I used Sheetz as my example because that’s what I want to work with. Sheetz is actually only in a few states on the east coast, but I’m sure it’s equivalent in other parts of the country.

In the center of the station is a kitchen, an area with coffee/donuts/pop/slushies, and of course, stores and chips. He was working behind the kitchen against the cook, as if he was working as a waiter. I don’t know if you have to be 18 cashiers at Sheetz, though, because they sell cigarettes there. Working behind the kitchen would be fine for under 18 people.

3.) Quite a course

Work at the course could range (pun-?) from tending to the grounds, checking people in, serving drinks at the bar. It depends on what course you are applying for and of course your age. Golf courses tend to be relaxing, with the patrons usually being people who want to relax . You could also go the caddy route, which could involve a golf cart agent. Good!

4.) Optician

An optician is the person who helps you select your frames when shopping for a pair of glasses. There is also personal glasses that fit your head, or help you make your first notes. . Training is complicated, but I tell you what training gives you.

No college degree or special training is required, just a high school diploma or GED. If this is the type of job you are looking for, you should consider applying to private practices and places like Boscovia or Sam’s Club a>. However, you can get more benefits in private practice (as something to remember!).

5.) Direct health care employee

For the right care workers you have employed, you will go to the homes of the disabled or elderly people and help them with their day-to-day living. You can also work at group homes. This usually requires nothing but a high school diploma or GED, and most of the training is on-the-job. If you are good with people and enjoy helping them, this will be good for you. Try applying to nursing homes or look in the classifieds section of your newspaper under “Vale” or “Caregivers”. These jobs usually pay above minimum wage and usually offer some type of benefits.
