Ah yes, the great American road trip. Pick up the vehicle and head to your destination, enjoying the change of scenery and places of interest along the way. On a long trip, the kids will likely be bored and restless, despite stopping to explore and run around. Of course, these days there are car DVD players, children’s toys, and various other gizmos and gadgets created specifically for traveling. the kid However, even these activities can become boring for a child or teenager, and when kids become grumpy or grumpy, parents absorb the tension.
So what will you do? “Old” with them! Play car travel games!
Car travel games provide hours of fun and great family bonding time. You may even learn something new about each other! They are educational and allow kids (and adults) to improve their language, reading, spelling, geography, and music skills. Many of them can also be played when traveling by plane, bus, or train. Here is a list of my favorite travel car toys from my “old school” days.
For children under 6;
1.) 20 questions. Have your child (or you) pick something in the car or something you pass outside, and ask her to ask yes/no questions that will reveal her identity. If your child reads on an object, ask about shape, color, texture, and size to help him learn these concepts. Even my 2 year old plays this one, asking questions like “Is it blurry?” or “Is it news?” It can be a lot of fun for children and adults and is great food for little curious minds!
2. Spy–Another classic that never gets old! Someone looks at an object inside or outside a car and recognizes its color only. (Hopefully something red…) Guess what it is. It is a game by fun for the little ones learning their colors.
3. Naming it – Like old television game shows (and current TV shows like that), hum a few notes of a song for your child to guess what it is. They can even roar! Someone can even sing a few lyrics and the others guess the rest of the words. You can increase your child’s music development music, you can create a real car.
4. Rhyme Game – Find one or two syllable objects inside or outside the car and ask your kids to think of rhyming words with it. Both my 4 year old and my 2 year old love this game, and we love them in they love their language skills. .
5. Storybook – Start with “once upon a time…” and all the turns add something to the story. The characters and the plot can go in very interesting directions. This game really lets your child’s creative juices flow!
For the 6th century and until;
6.) Alphabet game – Start with “A” and find the word on a billboard, sign, license plate, vehicle, etc. which begins with him. All your work is letter by letter. You may stumble on “Q” and “X”, but your children’s reading skills will need to be sharpened! Another variation of this game is to find transitional objects that start with each letter in the alphabet.
7.) Last Letter Game–This game can be played using categories such as famous names, movie titles or songs. animals or cities. Starting with a name like Barack Obama. The next player takes the “A” in the last letter of the last name, and names another famous person’s name that begins with that letter, such as Angelina Jolie Continue as long as possible. If a player can think of something even for a minute, let him go.
8.) Sports License Plate – The objective of this game is to find license plates in as many of the 50 US states as possible. Write them in a list, or take the opportunity of a Geography lesson, by drawing on a blank map of America, so that each state plate is known. No winners or losers, just lots of fun! There are other license plate games to play like taking the letter plates and creating an acronym from them to describe something about the vehicle.
9.) “Car” game – As a kid, this game was very popular with my family. It works best on a two lane road that does not receive heavy traffic. Each person takes a turn in the car as each vehicle arrives. For every turn, a passing vehicle “becomes” yours. It’s fun to see who gets the “clunkers” and who gets the right ones. At the end of the road, players can vote who won with the nicest vehicle.
10.) Ridiculous sentences — A player calls out a word that has the same number of letters as the number of players. The first player pronounces the word that begins with the first letter of the word, the second player, the word beginning with the second letter, and so on. Everyone is trying to make a complete sentence from all the letters that may or may not make sense. The more he plays, the longer and sillier the sentences! As in the game “the last word”, players also use the last word in each sentence made as a silly word in the next sentence. This game builds vocabulary and grammar skills.
So this summer, let it be a very fun drive family fun and a chance for the kids to learn even without knowing it. .
