Franklin Tennessee is located about 20 miles South of Nashville. With Beautiful farms, fields of hay, historic Civil War era homes mixed with modern restaurants and stores; it’s not hard to fall in love with this city. Having so many unique and fun things to do, Williamson County is a great place to live and to visit. Here are some of my favorite things:
Historic Downtown Franklin has something for everyone. If you want good food, Mellow Mushroom has the most unique kinds of pizza. My favorite is the Cosmic Karma pizza which has spinach, feta cheese, pesto, fresh tomatoes and sun dried tomatoes it’s so yummy and something I can’t get anywhere else! Mellow Mushroom also has soups, sandwiches, calzones, and salads! Puckett’s Grocery Store and Restaurant is a meat and 3 restaurant right in the heart of downtown. They have wonderful pulled pork, barbeque chicken, green beans, yeast rolls and macaroni and cheese just to name a few. Also, they have my favorite cobbler with cake-like crust. Puckett’s has live music on weekends, but it is hard to get in unless you have reservations. The best time to go is on a weekday for lunch. If you’re in the mood for a snack, downtown Franklin has Ben and Jerry’s, Starbucks, Baskin Robbins, Naticake’s (cupcakes), Sweet Dreams Cookie Co. and so much more. The main reason to go to downtown is for the gift shops which include an antiques district, Landmark Booksellers, a quilting store, high end boutiques for clothing and gifts, Curious Gourmet Kitchen Store, even a boutique with Christmas ornaments and decorations. There are festivals downtown for every season with all kinds of booths selling arts, crafts and food. You can even bring your dog! There are also ghost tours of downtown all year round telling the haunting tales of Franklin.
Located minutes from downtown Franklin is The Factory at Franklin: a renovated 1920’s era stove factory that has become a very popular shopping spot in Franklin. There are art galleries, a spa, restaurants and eateries, and some really cute stores. StoveWorks is a casual restaurant with a good country home cooking. They bring out a basket with fresh bread and real butter to get you started while you wait for your food. The last time I was there I enjoyed their tomato soup with half a turkey sandwich. They have a good children’s menu and a drink called “Beetle Juice” that is sprite and grape juice with gummy worms in it. The shops in the Factory are mostly high-end shops, including Antiques at the Factory, Little Cottage Children’s Clothing, Third Coast Clay (where you can paint your own piece), and my favorite store called Times Past and Present (Home decor, gifts, clothes, accessories, candles, collectables, jewelry, purses), Happy Tales Humane Society is also in the Factory so you can adopt a cute Dog or Cat while you’re there! The highlight of the Factory is the huge wooden rocking chair that you can actually climb into!
Franklin is the kind of town you can bring the whole family to, or just have a girl’s day out. There is always something for everyone!
