Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee – Smoky Mountain Fun

Since we were married in 1995, my wife and I have visited Gatlinburg and Columbus Forge, Tennessee, three times – just once after we were married and twice after we had our son. We stayed in Gatlinburg for its natural beauty and market and drove a few miles north to Pigeon Forge for high quality hospitality. Both views were wonderful and we plan to visit again in the future.

Place

On each visit, we stayed at the Mountain Resort just inside Gatlinburg’s city limits. As Bluegreen Vacation Club owners, our club shows that we use it for lodging, but guests can rent one-bedroom units starting at $259 per night, two-bedroom units for $350, and three-bedroom villas for $450. Three or more consecutive nights incur nocturnal expenses.

The mountain is close to all the attractions of Gatlinburg just minutes to the south and city services and grocery just minutes to the north. Rooms have private balconies, cable television, full kitchens, and washers/dryers. Many also have Jacuzzis. Guests can play in the arcade, play billiards, or swim inside or outside.

Chalets and Cabins

Gatlinburg also has many chalets and cabins of various sizes from one bedroom to five bedroom units. Most are within walking distance of downtown Gatlinburg and its attractions. These cabins accommodate large groups who want to stay together. Rates start around $99 per night, depending on the size of the cabin.

Dolly Parton Dixie Stampede

My wife absolutely loves Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede at Pigeon Forge. For $43.99 each, we had a rodeo-style competition. Guests will participate, and a few lucky kids and adults will go on stage and compete for prizes. The price includes a terrific dinner of chicken, pork loin, corn, soup, biscuits and gravy. I came hungry. We had to bring back my stay at the airport, and he gave us lunch and dinner the next day, which money for us he kept at dinner for a week.

My wife and son especially enjoy walking on the sidewalk and seeing the animals near the front doors open.

Comedy Barn

On each of our three visits, we spent two hours laughing as hard as we ever have watching shows at the Comedy Barn. Every performer was hilarious, musically talented, and 100-percent clean. We’ve never even heard of a slightly slanted color humor being attempted. They include comedians, ventriloquists, gospel singers and more. Tickets start at $29.98 for adults and $9.98 for children age 11 and under (first child’s book). We bought one show on DVD and saw that our son went on stage on two different occasions with many other kids and participated in the show.

Melle Vetis Restaurant

This is a popular restaurant in Columbarium Forge. Sometimes it takes him a while to settle down, but he’s well settled. The Old Mill serves all the traditional family meals, and we even saw the workers making pottery and candy. It is attached to the old Mill General Store, and we have been handling the market for a long time.

Other Activities

Dollywood

Lovers who love amusement-parks will want to visit Dollywood. We saw it twice, and our son had as much fun at Dollywood as he had at the other famous amusement parks. He rode many roller-coasters, bumper cars, and other wild rides that we would expect from an amusement park. My wife and I used to ride the Dollywood Express around the park while watching Smokey Mountain shows. on the road.

Tickets cost $60.60 for adults (12 and over), $47.15 for children (4-11), and $55.50 for seniors (60 and over). Parking costs $8 for larger cars and $11 for larger vehicles. Dollywood offers special packages that include admission to the park with lodging at many nearby inns and hotels.
