General Stanley McChrystal Criticizes Barack Obama & Joe Biden in “Rolling Stone” Profile

The fallout from Rolling Stone‘s profile of General Stanley McChrystal, the federal commander in Afghanistan, will likely reinforce the public perception of Barack Obama as weak and ineffective. In the event of criticism of BP’s handling of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, this could seriously hurt the President.

The introduction to the Rolling Stone article reads, “Stanley McChrystal, Obama, the supreme leader in Afghanistan, seized control of the war. never taking his eyes off the real enemy: the wimps in White.

The article is called “General Fugitives.”

McChrystal has been recalled by his commander in Washington and is likely to receive a public hearing. President Obama presented the resignation to the theater commander who has the choice to accept or reject it after a face-to-face meeting.

New York Times reporter Dexter Filkins reported today that “President Obama is furious with his top commander in Afghanistan in Washington on Tuesday after a magazine article described the commander and staff as openly contemptuous of some of his senior members of the Obama administration.”

The senior media general counsel has already resigned, according to Reuters.

General McChrstal issued a public apology. His own fault and act of transgression before the emperor in the actuary would preserve the officer’s military career for five years.

Voice Stone Profile

The Rolling Stone profile is more prominent of General McChrystal and his aides do not hide their contempt for President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and members of the Obama administration. The only member of the Obama Administration who gets a pass is Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, whom McChrystal is grateful for for her unwavering support of his mission.

In addition to insulting the Vice President (who considers himself an expert on foreign affairs but who opposes the leader’s request for more troops), McChrystal and his aides insulted the President’s personal envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan, longtime diplomat Richard Holbrooke, and the Ambassador. to Afghanistan Karl W. Eikenberry ,, once a three-star general. They also insult former Marine General James Jones, Obama’s national security monitor, calling him a “clown” who was involved in 1985 fighting with .

Even more amazingly, McChrystal disparaged his leader, Barack Obama. Obama’s top Pentagon brass is scared out of touch. Military commander armed in charge of armed officer rather than having a photo opportunity is expressed to his assistants. in an in-depth dialogue with McChrystal when Obama brought the general to the White House to take command of Afghanistan. He thinks McChrystal and his staff have a weak impression of Obama.

The assessor tells Michael Hastings, the author of the article, about the meeting between the two men “Obama didn’t know anything about him, who he was.”

Will McChrystal be fired?

A Washington Post readers’ heads on its website asked the question whether General Stanley McChrystal was fired so violently that he should be found. Out of 2,078 polls cast as of the afternoon of June 22, 72% of respondents said Obama should be impeached while 24% were opposed. Four percent were unsure.

James P. Pinkerton, in an article on the Fox News Web site, believes that General McChrystal was not fired. Reasons for the atonement of George McClellan by President Abraham Lincoln in the Civil War and General of the Army Douglas MacArthur by Harry S. Truman in On the Korean War, Pinkerton claims that Obama did not fire McChrystal for political reasons. Obama does not want to see a common wind on the 20102 Republican presidential ticket.

Both McClellan and MacArthur had ambitious politicians. “Little Mac” also won the 1864 Democratic presidential nomination and ran against the former emperor in November. Lincoln was reinforced by General William Tecumseh Sherman’s attack on Atlanta and Georgia, and won.

“Dugout Doug” MacArthur had plans to run for the 1952 Republican presidential nomination, but another Army General, Dwight David Eisenhower, snubbed the GOP nod. Ike went on to serve two terms as one of the most popular Presidents in US history.

Insubordinate generals

Apart from MacArthur’s public challenge Eleanor Roosevelt, and Truman’s Secretary of State Acheson Dean – all Democrats – as “pinkos.”

In 1961, Walker was relieved of his command by President John F. Kennedy and placed on a training mission in Hawaii while his activities were investigated. Walker resigns from the military (by doing so) and has become a figure in right-wing and racist political circles. Ironically, Lee Harvey Oswald, who was held by the Warren Commission to be the only hit man who relieved Walker of his command, had previously attempted to assassinate the controversial general.

George S. Brown, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff under Presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter, made anti-Semitic remarks to the press. saying that Israel has become a burden to the US military. General Air Force said Israel had too much political power in Congress and in the media because of the rush of sports money. He was arrested by President Ford but was allowed to serve his term.

Interestingly, James Jones — the “clown” according to McChrystal’s aides — had to apologize for an “inappropriate” joke he made about a Jewish businessman and the Taliban earlier this year.
