George Harrison is often referred to as the “quiet Beatle”, and sometimes even infamously as the “forgotten Beatle”, due to the fact that he was in the same band as the greatest song writer in the history of popular music. Lennon/McCartney were good enough to overshadow just about anyone, but Harrison wrote many great songs with the Beatles and this article highlights that.

Something” – Frank Sinatra said “Something” is his favorite Lennon/McCartney composition and the greatest love song he ever wrote. Another < a href="https://e-info.vn/tag/top-20-beatles-songs">Beatles song of all time after “Yesterday” has been covered by the likes of French Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and James Brown. Rolling Stone magazine made a list of the top 500 songs of all time in 2004.
“Here’s the Sun” – One of the first songs to feature a Moog synthesizer that Harrison played on record. The song was written in Eric Clapton’s garden. Clapton and Harrison were good friends.
“Taxman” – The opening track on the Revolver album features some short gnawing guitar solos by Paul McCartney.
“While My Guitar Gently Weeps” – Although George Harrison was the Beatles’ lead guitarist, he once again hands over the lead guitar duties to another in one of their best songs. A great example of Harrison’s lack of ego. On this track, Harrison’s good friend Eric Clapton comes to play guitar to lead the part. This song also made Rolling Stone magazine’s 2004 list of the 100 greatest songs of all time. The origin of the song lyrics is very interesting. Harrison was reading the I Ching at the time and inspired by the ideas in the book he decided to write a poem based on it. he reads in his first words when he opens a book at random instead of at random. The first words that were read were “weep softly.”
It’s too much” – This song was first published on the Yellow Submarine album and is one of Harrison’s more overlooked songs. a href =”https://e-info.vn/tag/sgt-peppers-lonely-hearts-club-band”>Sgt Pepper was released and set to appear on the Magic Ark Tour but instead got rejected and ended up in Yellow Submarine’s soundtrack album, which mostly included George Martin’s instrumentals and songs as already released on the title track.
“Inside You Without You” – This was George’s only contribution to Centurio Pepper. Harrison recorded this song with Indian musicians without any input from the other Beatles. I’ve seen this song ripped by people many times, but to me it’s an essential and wonderful part of the Peppercorn album. It’s on the way inside the way that Centurio Pepper is. Almost all the instruments used in classical music were played by Indian musicians.
Long Long” – The perfect song to follow “Helter Skelter” on the Album. A beautiful song. What Harrison says is about God .
“Blue Jay Way” – Harrison’s only contribution to the Beatles’ most prominent psychedelic album The Magic Mystery Tour was also Harrison’s most psychedelic song. While the song is not perfect, it has a lot of foreign production effects that show me.
“If I Need Someone” – This was the only song Harrison wrote that the Beatles played regularly on their set for several days. This is of course mostly because the band stopped writing before Harrison, most of their best songs. This was one of two songs Harrison included on the Rubber Soul album. Another “Imagine for You” which is also a good song, but I prefer this one. The song was very inspired by Byrd’s style.
“I Want to Tell You” – This is one of three songs Harrison included on the Revolver album. Interestingly he went from that 3 songs on Revolver to only 1 on each of the next two Beatles albums; Sgt Pepper and the Magical Mystery Tour.
George Harrison was a valuable member of the Beatles not only because of his excellent lead guitar playing and the Indian sounds he brought to he led the band, but with excellent singing.
