I met with enemies. It is called a phantom ant. It drives me crazy.
I have been a homeowner for almost 30 years. At that time I encountered and defeated carpenter ants, bees, wasps, hornets, aphids, spiders and various other bugs and insects. Nothing was ever so frequent and troublesome as the ghosts of these ants.
I have tried to destroy and eradicate this ant using earth friendly means, chemical means, and professional means. After countless hours of tracking and attacking, I think I have finally found a successful pest control solution.
Ant climb
I first noticed these critters around in the kitchen. They are about 1/32 inch big and look like chips, they just move. It was figured out that they were carrying something from grocery stores. you broke my fingers
The ants were returning. I cleaned the pantry, the cupboard, the stove, the cupboard, the floor. The kitchen was so sterile you could work in it.
The ant population grew.
Natural Solution
I did some research and learned that lemon juice and coffee are good for changing the chemical pathways ants use to travel. . I picked up a lemon and saved some coffee grounds, but I wasn’t sure what to do with them. Am I shooting the walls with lemon juice? Do I spill coffee around the kitchen? I ended up looking for another solution.
Chemical solution
My husband armed his house one day with a Home Pest Defense System he bought from Home Depot. He put on his protective gear, ant killer container in one hand, grabbed the deer in the other, and left. to exterminate the ants. The inside perimeter, the outside perimeter, and the middle of every perimeter got sprinkled.
Within three days, the small pests were back.
Professional Solution
Our annual termite/bug inspection was due, so we decided to get professional advice. Our bug man listens to our story and confirms that it is probably a ghost of an ant. He only offers us help by wishing us luck to “drive out the little critters”.

The ants keep attacking
We have already spent countless hours cleaning, spraying and ants vigorously. We lost valuable time tracking the ant trails trying to figure out the entry point. Ghosts come and go.
The natural remedies didn’t work, the pest control products didn’t work, and the professional was no help. I’m not sure what to try next.

I’m out shopping, walking around the aisles at Walgreens. I found this little vial of an ant killer called Terro. It only costs $3, so I decided it was worth a try.
Goodbye ants
I put a few drops of scented ant killer directly on the kitchen counter and wall. Within 30 minutes, all material ant and its mother feed. I will place a few drops in time.
I leave the ants alone to fill up the ant poison. It does not stain the counter or wall and wipes off easily. After 24 hours I noticed a significant drop in the ant population.
Success
I continue to pull out a drop of fresh Terro sometimes, I see a mask of ants gathering. Within 72 hours the ants expired. I’ve been working on my own DIY pest control solution.
