Solomon’s General Store is a store where you trade in virtual money for add-ons in the game. You can call it a “brother” of the Squeal of Fortune. This guide is to explain how you can make the most of your time at this new money-sucking store without using real life money.
What is a RuneCoin? Well, it’s a nifty new virtual coin currency that Jagex has put in place to allow the exchange of real money and the new Solomon’s General Store. 200 coins is approximately $5. Which, is actually pretty expensive as most items range between 150-300 coins each.
As of early February, the 200 RuneCoins promotion has been discontinued. RuneScape members will receive bonus items from the store once a month though and will still receive a 10% discount on all items in the store. You can find a list of items here.
Pay-to-Play players who visit the store will receive a 10 percent discount on all items in the store. A good strategy for players who’d like to start out would be to create a new account, activate the free 14-day membership trial and then spend it on items that were once too expensive for you.
In addition, you’d also want to go claim the free title available. To claim it, go to the “Titles” tab. Then, scroll down the options until you see the title called “the Thrifty.” To claim it, just click on the item and click “Buy.” You may also claim the RuneScape “Zen Resting” animation. This is free of charge for RuneScape members.
Along with the new store, new RuneScape Game Cards were released as well. These cards work like gift cards. They allow a user to buy the card ($10 USD or $25 USD) and then spend it on some aspects of the RuneScape site. This includes membership, Squeal of Fortune Spins, and/or virtual coins (not the in-game gold pieces).
So, after your quick trip, hopefully you’ve snatched up a free new title and a cool resting animation for your use (if you’re a RuneScape member). All this without depleting your wallet of money.
