Goodwill in San Luis Obispo: A Review

I’ve been craving thrift store supplies since when I went to Morro Bay, California in late March/early April 2010, I couldn’t resist the urge to drive to San Luis Obispo and visit all the thrift stores.

One of the stores I like to visit is Benevolentia. Higuera St San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 is located just across the street from the cemetery and is easy to find once in the neighborhood where it is located. Although I don’t usually buy a lot, I always walk away with a couple of things.

Walking into the store you will see a counter that has jewelry inside like the other minutes. This is also where you pay after you are done shopping.

In the past that is the space that has new products that have come from places like Target, etc. There are also several shelves that have furniture and electronics. To the left of that area is a stair case with two steps. When you walk in you will immediately see their clothing section for men, women and children. On the left hand side to the wall is the bed section.

At the very back of the store on the right side is the book area and on the left side is the DVD section and the picture frame area as well as some other items furniture

When I was at Benevolent, I noticed they had a nice selection of items. One of my complaints is that it seems a lot overpriced although you will find decently priced stores. It depends on what you were looking for.

They have the largest selection of DVDs I have ever seen in a thrift store. Also a great selection of video tapes. While I was there, DVDs were sold for $5 dollars, which I found to be a great DVD that can be bought new for $5 or less on a CD.

Their book selection is also pretty good, although their hardcover prices are high. A hardcover sells for four dollars and up. Again, I find it high for some of the older books because I can buy a used hardcover from a thrift store a cheap or order it from Paperbackswap.com I can shell out more because Goodwill in my country only charges .95 cents for hard covers. Their dwarves aren’t as expensive as bad ones, and they even have a deal where you can buy six dwarves for a set amount, which ends up being cheaper if you buy them separately.

Overall my experience was just fine. I didn’t find much, but I bought a couple of things. The customer-service-tips”>customer was also honest, which I was grateful for, because in some savings stores you never know how the clerks will act. If you’re an avid shopper, you’ll know what I mean.
