Got Garbage? the Trash Business is Booming!

I also read a classified ad in the local newspaper that read;
“Got the trash can? I’ll pick you up for free.”
The phone number is listed as do not call with the person’s name. I absolutely had to call this person because I was so intrigued as to why this person (or any person) would want to trash me. I heard from an old proverb that some toys are a treasure, but now c’mon, old trash? This man was frantic.

When it happens, the man doesn’t go crazy in the least, but he stops in time and apparently has a lot of time on his hands. One day he fell on his neighbor’s squire and was thrown on his way. Being a good neighbor, he went to pick up the trash and found some interesting items in the trash that could be recycled for some cool hard cash.

In addition to the soda cans that take a five cent refund (New York and many other states encourage recycling) the man also found some other things which would surely have more life left to live. Garbage goes through the process and in the process an idea is born. He told me that he was surprised at how many people throw away soda cans because they don’t want to bother returning them for a deposit. He was also surprised how many people just throw things that could be fixed with a little creative effort. The next man was not alone.

He finally decided to start a small business by free garbage pickup. Just be careful that the trash can be secured before it is disposed of. Anything of value will be removed and this allows him the opportunity to buy empty soda cans, fix broken kitchen chairs and reuse. or resell useless tools.

I asked him: What is the matter?

He answers: “Bilrat. I call tons every day.”

I was wondering if anyone would make money considering that they would return the residual garbage to the local dump. He explained that of course there wasn’t much left. Leftover food is placed in the backyard compost bin and he recycles paper, waste materials and metals. What is left is considerably less than what he took from his clients. Do we call them customers if they don’t pay?

The concern that was most interesting was that he rented various markets that we actually bought his stuff! He told me that he now has tons of compost. bet he does

Simply amazing. I think we’ll agree that this is an excellent example of early American craftsmanship at its best. Next time you take out the trash, go up and down the road for the guy in the blue pickup truck. I understand that the side of the cart is painted “Got Garbage?”
