Well, you thought the day would never come. Your little girl is all grown up and graduating from high school! Now the problem is sorting through your graduating gift ideas, if you have any at all, and figuring out what in the heck you should give her. Not only this, but you have friends and family members ringing you up, asking YOU for advice on what to get her as well. If you’re not quite sure, here are some ideas that are a mixture of frivolous and useful, cheap and expensive, and that make great graduation gifts for girls.
Gift card – It’s hard to go wrong with gifts cards theses days. Sure, it might seem a bit impersonal, but most teens would rather have something they themselves have picked out as opposed to getting something they don’t like and have to return. You can even buy personalized gift cards online at Giftcards.com.
Clothes- It can be a bit tricky when it comes to shopping for a teenage girl. I would only recommend it if she has been requesting a particular item and you know her size, color selection, and/or favorite store/s.
Vacation/trip– Graduation can be an exciting, yet stressful time in any young woman’s life. There is a major life transition occurring for her, and a trip, vacation or cruise can help her relax. While it might be tempting to make it a family excursion, you may want to reconsider. Although it’s difficult to accept, she would probably appreciate time with her friends right now more than mom and dad. Sometimes Expedia, Orbitz or Cruises.com can have some very reasonably priced trip options. It can also be helpful if you use a travel agent, as they can often help you sort through the litany of fees and other added expenses that often aren’t mentioned in online promotions.
Party – A great graduation party after the ceremony can be the perfect gift for your image concerned teen. A chance to impress friends with a lavish bash never hurts in the mind of the teenage girl.
Spa treatment – Ah yes, the spa treatment. It’s a rare girl who would turn down the chance to be pampered and treated like a queen. A mani, pedi, massage or facial could do the trick for this youngster.
Concert Tickets – Like any good teenager, probably a favorite band or pop singer appeals to the little lady. Tickets for her and a couple friends to see the show might just hit her fancy. Ticket Master and Stubhub.com can be great places to begin your search.
Laptop/computer – Moving on to more useful items, we get to the much-needed technology of today’s business and educational world. Whether she’s venturing off to college or heading of to work, a new computer can be a helpful and highly appreciated gift. Best Buy, Dell, Gateway, HP, and even Walmart, can be good places to start your search.
Savings Bond – While not the most exciting of gifts, she will certainly appreciate it when the time comes and money is tight. Paying off tuition costs down the road can be a struggle, and a government savings bond can pay off big time. These bonds can be purchased at most banks.
Cash/check – It not very personal and might not be too memorable (depending on the amount) but it’s always handy and helpful no matter what her future holds.
Car – The top of the top when it comes to graduation gifts. The new car is out of most gift budget ranges, but for those who can afford it, you know she’ll never forget this one and prices right now are hard to beat!
