There are few directors out there who have as much on their plate as Guillermo Del Toro. The famous director released his new movie “Pacific Rim” last year, is working on a proposed TV show that will feature the Incredible Hulk, is still hoping for a third “Hellboy” and has spent more than a little time on the failed adaptation. “To the mountains of madness.” In addition to his multiple directing projects, he continues to produce a fairly steady stream of horror projects and also has his hands in entertainment and video games.
In an interview with Offense Until You Cast, Del Toro gave some insight into the long-rumored Frankenstein project. Along with the adaptation of Tarzan, which Del Toro looks at obliquely in the interview, this is a project that the director has been connected to for some time with no real details. It was designed to be a dream project for him but there was never much indication of anything actually progressing. Now, in an interview, Del Toro claims that Universal Studios’ Donna Langley is “putting us on track to sponsorship”<. /a>
This information would have been universal not only to ask what Del Toro has in mind in the history of the famous monster, but also sooner rather than later. Of course, it’s no secret how many projects Del Toro is attached to in various capacities. This is probably what prompted Langley to give him the bare minimum to write the script. That said, it’s not something fans can expect anytime soon. Del Toro himself indicates that he needs to wait several years to complete the script before he is ready to shoot.
Frankenstein’s monster is one of the most iconic creatures in both literature and film and has been adapted many times. The most famous version remains the black and white “Frankenstein” and “The Bride of Frankenstein” directed by James Whale. Del Toro emphasizes in the interview how suitable the story and the monster are, how it can be set in almost any era and the monster can represent almost anything. This indicates that Del Toro is at least considering some fairly non-traditional options in telling this story rather than maintaining the usual Victorian setting that is most associated with the monster. Of course, it can only change the amount of time, that will be as writing and still some time. to be away
