With tickets to Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus’ hit tour “Best of Both Worlds,” selling out within minutes of going on sale, and websites selling those tickets for thousands of dollars, some fans are feeling extremely let down after learning that the star uses a body double during her show.
The tour uses the same premise as the hit Disney television show, “Hannah Montana.” The singer/actress performs half of her concert as Hannah Montana and then quickly turns into Miley Cyrus to complete the show. Fans were amazed at how quickly Cyrus was able to pull off the clothing change. As the rumors started up fans were comparing the dupe to that of the Ashlee Simpson fiasco back in 2004. A video was released on YouTube showing the obvious switch in the singers. The body double holds a microphone and gestures like she is singing.
Miley Cyrus’ camp quickly dispelled the rumors by admitting the use of a body double, and explaining the reasoning behind using one in the first place. Associated press release the statement given by the public relations firm PMK. After Hannah has completed the featured verse on the duet with the Jonas Brothers, a body double appears approximately one to two minutes prior to the end of the song in order to allow Miley to remove the Hannah wig and costume and transform into Miley for her solo set. Other than during this very brief transitional moment in the show, Miley performs live during the entirety of both the Hannah and Miley segments of the concert.”
For many of her fans, this explanation is accepted. But there are still some angry that they tried to pass off a fake Hannah Montana to begin with. The public relations firm says that the switch is purely for costume change reason, and that the voice heard is actually Miley’s with the body double lip syncing. They report that the rest of the show is done entirely live.
This has only fueled the fire for non Miley believers. In September of 2007 rumors spread on the internet that the Disney Pop Princess was pregnant, causing many moms and dads to gasp and wonder how to tell their young children. The rumors were proved false and Cyrus issued a statement saying that she does not believe in sex before marriage. Then in December of 2007, rumors again hit the internet about the 15 years old singer/actress. This time supposed “racy” photos were released showing Cyrus and an unknown gal pal in some compromising situations. The jury is still out on whether these pictures showed anything bad, but is still enough in some parents eyes to drop the tween idol from her pedestal.
