Every holiday season our televisions are bombarded with new products, hot products, and sales pitches that draw even the hardest shoppers, and every year I can’t get enough of the constant “ooohs” and “Ahhhs” and “But Momms.” like “from my ears.” Last year there was a mini chopper, the year before the bicycle, and before this the table. This year though, my monument turned into a full-on drama queen when I saw Hasbro’s latest simulation game. Dream Girls in young pre-teens, Dream Life makes every girl’s fantasy world seem to come to life. So what exactly is this game, and is it a dream or simply a nightmare perpetuating the cycle of a materialistic society? One mother and daughter must have a new age review: Hasbro’s Dream Life.
The dream of a lifetime trade was everything a girl could ask for both in the game and in life. I can’t think of a single tweenager who can’t be hooked on the idea of creating their “dream self,” hanging out with a “dream boy,” and creating a “dream school year”. Hasbro definitely owns this one. I watched as the eyes of my 8 year olds eyes became the size of giant saucers and the game play The memory shows the girls their age shopping, dying their hair, decorating their beds, and hanging out with all their friends, while a female voice confidently proclaims that they can have a Hasbro Dream Life game, “The power of living your dreams… you decide. what you do yours and when… “At first I was less than thrilled with this game, but as my daughter reminded me…” But mom, you play the Sims and it’s the same thing as the Sims, but for my come on.” The more and more I thought of it as a kind of law. Besides, I would have killed myself when I was her age to tell her without any promises that we were going to see her.
After dropping by his school the following week, I decided to look into what this game was all about. I went to the store and was told that they had sold out several times. In the last stop I could not find the toy anywhere in the stores, but lucky for my daughter, I stopped by an old friend who stopped in head, face shape and skin tone; and to shape the sense, among many other things, by imagining your “dream self. Then you can visit your house dream best friend name it and create. It depends on the many friends and partners, but it will be in the sense of “shining” in this game. This is where you will start the game every time, or save the game. This is also where your daily advisor and email it will be saved and where you study you can do homework, practice after school activities, try on your dream clothes and more. Also in “Dream Life”, school runs Monday through Friday and just like in reality it has homework, tests, grades and Noting more. Chores should be done for a salary, such as computers, personal phones, video games can’t help but bring your “dream self” home A’ in tests and reports.
I didn’t realize the importance of this game until one day when my daughter got frustrated and asked me why the game wouldn’t let me buy a dress for school, or hosts a new after school activity like soccer dancing; or the swimming bar will rise, which is good, of course. The part I have a little arm around is because every “cool” new electronic gadget your parent allows you to buy for good grades, your life points will rise. I’m not really sure how to feel about this, because you didn’t get the cool new “in” unless you did well in school, but your life points aren’t really going up because of your grades, but because of grades. also new The third and final step is usually taken. That’s where it offends me, a little more. In order to make your level rise, you should not only buy the new hot styles, but really make the purchase often, to get a lot of something in these box points. I fascination of any game we make our kids to be successful in life buy, buy, buy; buy into this materialistic “mine is newer, bigger, better, more expensive” company, but as I was born 8 years ago and ventured in such a way, it was something strange for me. It seems a little silly that they felt that any age could be too young, I know… But they were definitely smarter to slip them into the game, so that they could have some hidden positives and negatives. I suspect, however, that it has always been my fault that I have studied and read deeply enough to see the inadvertence of subliminal suggestions. Parental support and guidance though this message seems minor compared to anything else in stores or on television and an 8 year old doesn’t even care much about the “Dream Life” scale. She has too much fun doing all the things she could never do as an 8-year-old in real life like dying her hair, shopping, and dressing up. I was surprised to find my grave was a pre-teen girl, but overall this game is fun and well worth the $30.00.
After almost a month, I’m still playing this game every day and even though I have a complaint or two, I have to admit that overall I had this game and first time in my 8-year history in fact it also plays with great interest as if it happened just yesterday. Huge feet for this boy! On a scale of 1 to 10, I would definitely give this one an 8 or 9 and if I could go back in time, I would definitely buy this one again.
