Haunted Rochester – Where to Go If You’re Looking for Ghosts

If you want to be located in Rochester, New York, I have written a complete list of parks, buildings, cemeteries and streets and fields that are worth visiting. Don’t forget that some of these will allow me to research permission. If anything paranormal happens, I’d love to hear about it!

Parks

Durand Eastman is in the house of the White Lady of Rochester. The legend begins with a mother and daughter. My daughter loved walks on the beach (Lake Ontario shoreline) and one day she was missing. Police never found the girl, so the mother continued the search with her two dogs. One day, convinced that he would never see his daughter again, he jumped off a cliff. Visitors say they saw a mother and two dogs walking on the beach at night.

Boughton Hill in Victor (just south of Rochester). According to legend, the witch was buried outside the park on the north side. Visitors have made their presence felt in and around the park, many times.

Dust Mills Park is located in Pittsford under Victor. This park is said to be haunted by many spirits, especially one man who periodically wanders around the park in costume.

Party Webster is located in the northern suburb of Webster, on Lake Ontario. Paranormal hunters have captured many disturbances and inexplicable aberrations on film.

Mendon Ponds Park is located in Mendon just south of Rochester. It is the largest park in Monroe County at 2,500 acres. Usually, people watch for the bird, but sometimes, it can seem like a spot so you stay.

Elison Park in Rochester. The only difference is that this park exists directly on top of a city that no longer exists – the city of Tryon.

Roseland Park in Canandaigua. Roseland was an amusement park for many years. A few years ago, before it was demolished, the park claimed many lives, both from adults and children, due to the old equipment. Since then everything, including the monument, has been overthrown by the dead.

buildings

Geva Theater in Roffens. Games, social gatherings, and the occasional spirit…

Powers Market Firm in Pittsford. It sits right across the street from White Harbor Cemetery – it’s no big surprise that some spirits can make their way to it.

Green Lantern Inn in Fairport. For example, there is a woman who haunts this building, turned on by the lights and closed doors. My husband and I are holding a wedding reception in this building. I remember seeing the lights turn on inexplicably, and the doors closing, but that I might have had too much to drink…

University of Rochester Library in Rochester. In 1929, a carpenter fell during the construction of the library. It is said to haunt the old piles. Many many things have been reported and documented in the paper field.

Pates Chili High School, located southwest of Rochester. He is believed to have been molested in high school by a boy who died drunk driving. He goes to bed, looking for his girlfriend, who is pregnant with his child. Sometimes they see him driving his car around the school.

The Aquinas Institute is located in Rochester. A girl name Victoria had her first roles in musicals. He had a car wreck on opening night. People think they are haunting a room in the attic (otherwise known as “Heaven”. Sometimes the tech crew knocks on the door or window, or hears footsteps, but they know no one is in the attic at the time.

Cemeteries

Holy Sepulchre in the city of Roffens. Thin apparitions are seen – one woman in black, as well as a white, smoky figure in the boys’ section. Intriguing…

Mt. Hope in the city of Rochester. This is the oldest Victorian cemetery in the entire US, and it contains 196 acres of land. 370,000 people (approximately) are kept there. Many local congregations and worshipers call this cemetery home.

Honeoye falls on Route 65, just south of Rochester. Many curious spirits have been experienced in this cemetery. Pictures of these ghosts were taken by ghost hunters.

Miscellaneous

Fines Field in the city of Rochester. The goal area is a sports stadium built in 1996 that many paranormal groups in Roffens believe to be haunted. These were claimed by the Center’s own Halloween Games in 2005.

Ancient Lima, located about 45 minutes south of Rouen. An ancient Indian burial ground is rumored to be located somewhere in Lima. On occasion, the craftspeople will be evicted while new homes are being built. By law, builders are required to stop construction to allow archeologists to search for more evidence.

New Michigan Road at Victor. It should be read that recently a couple was fatally injured in a vehicle riding on this road. During the full moon, people spot a lady wandering the white road, as they think, looking for her “new” husband.
