Pennsylvania may be a landlocked state, but one amusement park in the state still has a “boardwalk” opening this Memorial Day.
The podcast on the floor of the walk at Hershey Park’s website states that the park’s latest attraction is a tribute to Coney Island, Atlantic City, Seaside Heights, Rehoboth Beach, and other New Jersey, New York and Maryland beaches.
Now, in addition to enjoying great attractions like roller coasters and other land-based rides, guests can also cool off at Hershey Park. to the new water park. A major reason for visiting Hershey, Pa. (There are many more, as AC writer Teresia Stanisha writes about it here.
The map at Hershey Park is included in the regular park ticket, making it a kind of two-for-one deal. In addition to the water attractions listed below, the newest section of the park also has nine food stands, six games, and seven retail stores. and two changing areas and locker rooms.
The boardwalk at Hershey Park is a $21 million water park nestled between two popular roller coasters, Lightning Nation and Wildcat. Hershey Park’s walking map offers five separate attractions, featuring rides and features for all different levels of adventure. Check out:
Eastern Water Works
According to HersheyPa.com, the East Coast Waterworks is the largest amusement park structure in the world, weighing in at 62-tons. The attraction is seven stories high and holds 54,000 gallons of water, and features seven water slides, two of which crawl through tunnels; 600 interactive water toys, tow ropes, 225 foot cross bridges and more. From looking at the pictures on the site, the East Coast Water Works location is also colorful and attractive.
Lower the Coastline
Perhaps the most exhilarating part of the boardwalk at Hershey Park, Coastline Waterslide offers four serpentine water slides from 54-foot slides to 1,000-foot slides: Riptide, Surge, Vortex and Charybdis.
Each slide is unique, as is the huge vortex, looking like a funnel-shaped structure where the riders accelerate into a dark tunnel where the floor cuts out. They are then brought together, held only by the centrifugal force of the whirlwind. The rest of the slide is not as fierce as the level of comfort for everyone. Each of the slides to be lowered to the Coastline are of different shapes and colors, making it a nice structure to look at together.
Wave Rider
Surf is up to Hershey Park visitors! Undo Rider is a surfing simulator that allows two riders to go head to head in a friendly surfing competition. The pool has two sides, where each user can sit or stand and try to ride the waves.
Sandcastle Cove
Sandcastle Cove was built with little ones in mind. The attraction features a giant sandcastle filled with toys for kids to enjoy, including water curtains, water slides, cannons; and the course of the lake is great. The water is short here, so even the smallest guests can enjoy Hershey Sandcastle Cove Park.
Bayside Pier
The Bayside Pier provides an easier environment than the twists and turns and speed of the water. The pier offers a gentle, wave lapping into the pool where swimmers can cool off from the summer sun. There are also lounge chairs by the pool.
