HIC Pro Surfing Competition’s Round 3 Has Begun: Fan View

If you’ve been paying attention to the surface of the world lately, this is for sure. In 2012, the HIC Pro surface competition started and ended on several very different days. The contest was first held in Hawaii on Monday, October 29, 2012 and runs through early November 2012. However, Mother Nature apparently had other plans. After a series of frustrating lay days, only two laps of the surface were fully completed. Round 3 is completed. With that said, here’s a quick look at some of the latest events:

Round 1 Result

The highest heat surf score of round 1 was in heat 2. Surfing Kamalei Alex Woolsey (HAW), Levi Gonzales (HAW), Wade Carmichael (AUS) and Britton Galland (USA). Kamalei Woolsey Alex won the surf with 13.17 points. His best waves were a 7.67 point ride and a 5.50 point ride. He went on to lose the following Round 3 matchup against Pancho Sullivan (HAW), Makai McNamara (HAW) and Ian Gentil (HAW).

Round 2 Results

The highest heat surf score of round 2 was made in heat 1. Makana Eleogram (HAW), Solomon Oritz (HAW), Jack Perry (AUS) and Jesse Merle-Jones (HAW). Makana Eleogramme won the surf with 15.57 points. The best waves were an 8.17 point ride and a 7.40 point ride. I really enjoyed watching him surf.

Round 3 Results

Round 3 HERE Pro kicks off with a surf wave between Tanner Hendrickson (HAW), Taylor Clark (USA), Makana Eleogram (HAW) and Saxon Lumsden (AUS). Tanner Hendrickson won the surf with 13 points. His best skills resulted in a 7.50 point ride and a 5.50 point ride. He is expected to surf again in Cirque 4, Cale. 1. In that season he will be up against Brian Toth (PRI), Jamie O’Brien (HAW) and Isaiah Moniz (HAW).

Each of the 3 remained in the surf for 10 more heats before the match was retained. Surf action is expected to resume with a heat 12 matchup between Kekoa Bacalso (HAW), Izuki Tanaka (JPN), Kalani Chapman (HAW) and Ezra Sitt (HAW).

What later?

As in mother nature’s sentiment, the HIC Pro quote can return on Thursday, November 8, 2012. The waiting period for the surface competition is set to end on Saturday, November 10, 2012. After the surface competition resumes, surf fans will be able to watch all of the remaining heats on the Vans website.
