History of the Eiffel Tower in Paris

The Eiffel Tower was built by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel for the Universal Exhibition and to commemorate the centenary of the French Revolution. The tower was inaugurated on March 31, 1889, and its construction was first met with criticism and protests from Parisian and French intellectuals, but the metal structure of the tower became the most famous figure in Paris and one of the “biggest” tourist attractions. the attraction is visited by around 6 million visitors each year.

Studies of the project began in 1884 and, despite all the obstacles created by Parisians and public opinion, the construction of the Eiffel Tower began only in 1887, lasted 26 months and was completed in 1889. The first idea was to remove the tower after Universal. Exhibition of 1900, but with radio transmission experiments carried out by the French Government before the deadline, the Eiffel Tower still stands today.

A milestone in modern architecture, the Eiffel Tower was the first example of a large-scale wrought iron structure. As far as the local authorities of Paris are concerned, the Eiffel-tower is managed by a private company called “Sciet© Nouvelle d’ Abusio de la Tour Eiffel, the author of preserving his structure, which he re-paints every 7 years with 50-60 tons of paint (to protect it from rusting) through the work of acrobatic climbing experts.

The tower is illuminated by 352 projectors of 1000 watts and every 30 minutes in the evening they flash with beautiful lights, creating a unique and spectacular show. The fire effect of the Eiffel Tower was originally to celebrate the year 2000, but the Parisians, aware of its beauty, did not want to give up this amazing effect and , despite the excessive consumption of electricity, the company that manages the Eiffel tower has decided to leave the Eiffel tower with a splendid dress.

About 7,300 tons of iron were used to construct the Eiffel Tower and, when completed, it stood 1,025 feet tall. The current height is now 1,063 feet including the new TV antenna. The base consists of four arched columns, which thins the structure upwards, and is interrupted by three pediments, each of which is decorated with the observation of houses.

The Eiffel Tower is equipped with stairs and elevators, and on the first floor houses a restaurant, while at the top offering a wide view of Paris, art in the world is considered and visited and appreciated a. more than 6 million visitors each year.
